Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. So we ended up with the harness. The orthopedist was very confident that this will help things and we go back to Mass General in 2 weeks for another ultrasound and to see him. Hoping for good news then!
ETA: I think it looks worse than it is - the harness is all fabric and velcro and she seems fine in it.

ugh, no, she can't straighten them. it definitely has been frustrating her a bit
so the bones of the hip joint aren't fully formed at birth (for any baby) and the concern with her was basically that her hip joints were too loose. the harness holds her legs in the optimal position for the ball part of the joint to stay in the socket. this will allow the bones to grow correctly and will ensure the socket grows around the ball to hold it in.
