I'm looking for something decorative to put in the area between the range and hood on the backsplash. I've perused tiles and found some awesome custom murals made of stone but don't really have $500 in my budget. I'm using aspen leaves as my theme, I have some pendant lights picked out for when I can afford them

and some 4" copper tiles

that will accent the 12" diamond set tile in the backsplash. I want it fairly simple but don't want to just look at square tiles when cooking for the next 15-20yrs.
Any suggestions? Do any of you know any folks that work with stone/tile murals?

Re: Backsplash ideas anyone?
I'd probably avoid some sort of mural. I'd keep the same backsplash you have going on in the other areas and maybe just hang something washable like a piece of metal art:
Then you could change it if you get bored.
I think if you just want something cute, but functional right now and will add the tile later, that you should avoid tiling with something temporary. Taking off a tile backsplash is tough when you're not redoing the whole countertop.
Can you go with something like those faux tin tile/sheeting for the time being and save up for the tile work next summer/fall?
Here's a link to some that I think look really great and would not detract from your whole upgrade, but also would be way easier to remove when you are ready to tile:
