Re: Confessions, AW, UOs

  • AW- DH was sworn in last night and is now an elected official!

Confession:  I'm going to my cousin's bar mitzvah this weekend and I don't want to go.  It's an all day thing in Brooklyn and they're Orthodox, so I had to buy a new dress. DH isn't coming because he has orientation in the morning, and it's separate seating at the party at night, and I'm not going to make him drive 2 hours to sit with people he doesn't know.

I know when I go I'll have a good time, but right now I just want to be lazy.

  • AW - Got my year-end review yesterday and I'm getting promoted this month. In one way I'm super happy because I'm getting a really great raise and my bonus with be even higher this year but now because of this, it's pretty much impossible to get my husband on board with me leaving and getting a new job. I really would like to find a job closer to home that has a better work/life balance, but now because of this promotion/raise, DH says I'm stupid to leave and that I need to suck it up. Very bittersweet.

  • I am writing this from a movie theater as I wait for the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to start. I put my baby in a half day of daycare for the first time today. The AW part is that I didn't dissolve into a mess of tears AND I've only called once to check on him.

Confession: I go back to work Monday and I'm half looking forward to it and feel guilty as hell for that.

Good job Momma!  Enjoy the movie, it's great.  I sent Em to the babysitter last week and went out to see it.

  • I am happy to be back at work after the holidays.  I'm not sure if that's considered a confession, and AW or UO.  I really needed some routine back in my life.  And normal meals.

PS - There was a girl next to me on the treadmill yesterday...wearing Uggs.  Speed-walking.  My feet were sweating just looking at her.

  • I went back to work yesterday. I'm sad. and I'm mad at DH for being so dismissive when I brought up thinking about how feasible it would be for me to go part time.... as in, I wasn't even saying "I definitely want to go part time"... he stopped working to go to school full time and I supported that idea, but he can't even entertain a conversation about me working part time? (note that he is now working... I'm not talking about me being part time and him with no income)

Going back to work and leaving my kid was so.freakin.hard. I thought I'd want to go back to work and would welcome it, but I was completely wrong. I was so sad, too. It's totally normal.

It's normal for your DH to feel that way, too though. He's in provider mode now, most likely, and he's prob wondering how to support a wife AND a new kid on one salary.

The only thing I can say is to just be gentle with yourself and give it some time. It takes time to get into a routine with work, daycare, etc. It's a huge adjustment. Don't overschedule yourself in the first few weeks. Come home, snuggle that baby, and enjoy the baby and your husband on the weekends.

Take it a day at a time. It gets easier.

  • I start work on Monday, and we found (what I think) is a great day care for B and it's right around the corner from DH's office. I'm over the moon about going back to work and for B to have social interaction every day. I hope that I am not a blubbering mess on Monday.

Thanks, LD! I am trying to appreciate my time with the baby and keep in mind that it's an adjustment period. Sucks!

  • AW x 2

Also received my review at work (should have received in May11).  Very nice raise and a promotion.  =)

Cannot wait to me in Mexico at the end of January; should be a good time w/ the inlaws.

Confession:  the first day I took Hunter to day care I was all "Mommy loves you.. SEE YA" because I was so happy to be out of the house and back at work.

That lasted about 2 weeks.  Now I miss the hell out of him every day.

  • Oh, I forgot I have an AW! I'm going to be a godmother! My cousin (who is like my big brother) asked me to be the godmother for his daughter. I'm so excited and was pretty shocked, to be honest. Now I just want to buy her all sorts of adorable things.
  • jumping on real quick for my AW: i started my new job on tuesday, and i couldn't be happier. its actually further from home and w/the benefits and philly cwt its a pay cut. i'm sure i'll be b!tching about one thing or another in a few months, but i have a manager, director and team that are fantastic and stress the importance of work/life balance.

congrats on the promo girl!!! initially my dh was like that too (had a much higher earning and bonus potential at the old job) but then he realized we just couldn't put a price on my sanity...and you know the saying, happy wife happy life!
