Affordable yoga in West O? Urban Active?

Are there any places in west Omaha that have cheap(er) yoga? I looked into that Lotus yoga place as it's the closest to my house, but for 5 classes it's $55. I guess I feel like paying $55 a month and only be able to go about once a week is kind of pointless, I may as well pay a little more for a gym membership and have the gym as well, right? But then again, who am I kidding? I'd probably only go once a week anyway. :)

Does anyone go to Urban Active? The reviews online for that place are terrible. But it's the closest gym to my house. I know for sure if I had to drive a while to get to a gym, I would never go.

  • I go to Urban Active and like what you get for the money.  Even when they are really busy, I haven't had a hard time finding equipment to use.  They offer classes but I haven't tried any of those yet but they do have their class schedule online so you can see when they offer yoga or other classes.  I'm also not sure how quickly they fill up as they just have the one room that they teach each class in.  Some of the people that work there or work out there can be kind of snotty but I blow those kind of people off and am just there to get my workout in so I don't mind :)  The reviews online aren't so great especially when it comes to cancelling and I haven't dealt with that obviously but I know you have to be very persistant with some gyms when cancelling.  I asked on here back when I joined and a few others went there and liked it so tried it out and like it and have the month-to-month membership.  They do let you try it for free if you wanted to go that route first.

Thanks! I did read that complaint about canceling, but when I called the guy was straight up about that and explained it really well to me, the "outs" that is. So, I just chalked up the majority of those reviews to people just being dumb. :) Do you have kids? Do you just the playroom there? I think we are going to do the 7 day trial and see what we think. It would only be $70/month for myself and my husband to go, and my kid to use the playroom, and it seems like you would get a lot more for your money vs. me just paying $55 for 5 yoga classes at Lotus...

  • I have been going to Urban Active since it opened...or should say had been going- have only been twice since K was born.  I am actually thinking of cancelling since I just don't have time to go and am finding it easier to work out at home!  I have never had any issues or complaints though.  For classes you do need to get there early.  I like spin classes on sat. but there will literally be a line out the door waiting to get in!  And for some of the yoga/pilate classes I have seen people lined up outside the room a while before classes begin.  I would like to tyr more classes but quite a few are very early am or during day- or after dinner which doesn't work for me!  I would love to see a 4:30 PM class but never have.

The equipment is all nice though and I have never had to wait for that.  I would check out the playroom more before adding that.  I have never used it and don't know if I would personally as everytime I walk by (the playroom is all windows on 2 sides so you can see in) it seems that the workers are talking or texting while the kiddos are sitting there.  It may have changed somewhat but for quite a while this was all I saw.

Glad to hear I'm not missing something on the cancellation process :)  We don't have kids so I haven't used the playroom they have for them but seems like quite a few people do use it.  They have a play area with toys and then a fenced area for older kids where they can play basketball.  It's to the right when you walk in there if you wanted to check it out during your trial.  They have a nice indoor track, pool and a movie room for cario in addition to the usual weights and cardio and you do get a lot for your money.  They wanted to set me up with a personal trainer when I signed up but I just told the my schedule was busy and I'd have to get back to them.  They called me once to follow up but that was it.
