OK I'm going on vacation and need to get a couple of books for the kindle. What are your suggestions? (tropical vacation)
Re: What should I read?
I know I was touting it all summer, but have you read Sue Grafton's alphabet books? A is for Alibi, etc? I think she's up to U now - I really enjoy those.
I always go for fluffy romance novels to fill in when I am tired of reading heavier stuff.
Have you read anything lately that you really loved? That might help me pick other books...
V, actually. I'm reading it now. I love her, but the books don't last long enough.
I just checked A is for Alibi and One for the Money out of the library, but haven't started them yet. I also need to finish up the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy.
Have you read anything by Jennifer Weiner? They're easy reads, but have a bit more substance than the rest of the chick lit genre.
I know, right? I think I made it to N before I had to take a break - I was reading two a week! I have been reading books for yoga, romance novels, and books for book club, so once yoga teacher training ends I'll have time to go back to Kinsey!
Seriously, she needs a makeover like whoa. I take less offense to the dress and more offense to the turtleneck-jeans-sneakers uniform. GAG. Please tell me she loses that in later books?
My mom always told me, when you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. My lips are sealed.
I don't do romance novels. The last 2 books I've read (or am reading) are Jodi Piccoult. I am bringing another of hers on the trip so thought I'd look for something else for the kindle.
What other authors do you like?
Have you tried John Irving, Margaret Atwood, Tom Robbins?
Haven't read any of those, will check them out.
I read Angels and Demons but not DaVinci code (it's been sitting at my house for like a year!). I'll check Steve Berry out.
Tom Robbins is especially fun.
They aren't sneakers, they're Sauconys. And you call yourself a fan.
Pfft.
Have you read anything by Michael Connelly? I just finished the first in the Harry Bosch series, called The Black Echo.
Jo Nesbo is fantastic! Ditto, doglove.
Steig Larsson's books are outstanding, as well.
And Skinny Dip.
The Lincoln Lawyer is also a good book.
You guys are speaking my mystery novel language! Also if you're looking for a long mystery/crime series, the Kay Scarpetta (sp?) novels are pretty good as well. And you don't necessarily need to read them in order.
For flimsy chick lit, maybe Jane Green. She's British and has some good ones.
I have Lincoln Lawyer on my kindle already. I was a little worried I wouldn't like it because I saw the movie first.
I like the Kay Scarpetta books, too. I think they are by Patrcia Cornwell? I wasn't able to get into the Skinny Dip books, though.
I like her books, the only one I didn't care for was the short stories compilation. But yes, she has some good ones. I think Jodi Piccoult has a new one out, I saw it in stores and can't remember the name of it.
I think the one I'm reading right now is her new one "Sing You Home"?
