Zaycon Foods!!!

If you like chicken and lots of it, Zaycon Foods is a farm fresh way of buying it in bulk. I subscribed a few months ago and they just sent me an email that they're coming here. Here's the deal, they sell boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.69/lb and in cases of 40lbs. So you buy 1 case it'll come out to $67 and change. I already ordered mine, and one for my FIL, and they give you the date to go pick it up. I picked Everett cause that's where I'm closest to. It's usually handed out at churchs, you can buy more than 40lbs if you want, but remember, you're going to have to freeze it! My FIL has a Food Saver, which you can buy at Costco, and my hubz and I are going to freeze most of them that way. But it's a great deal if you like to have protein on hand. Here is the website...https://www.zayconfoods.com/    I hope you guys check it out! Jennlinn, you may already be on this! Just wanted to let you ladies know so you can save some pennies! Also, you have to have your order in by January 11th.

hahah yeah i know about this. funny thing is, i was talking to h about this last night. they come by couple times a year....maybe about 5x's? either way...i've never ordered....mostly because i'm afraid....what does 40lbs of chicken even look like? Surprise   our freezer isn't *that* big....but yeah, it would be *such* a money saver.....

have you ordered before? what does it look like when it comes? how is it packaged? is it frozen individually in pieces? is it a madhouse at pickup? i don't have a food saver, is that absolutely necessary?

we are thinking about getting it this time. because we want to have food on hand with an infant at home.... 40lbs of chicken is just a lot to commit to.

  • Jennlin, I haven't done it before, this is my first time. We have an extra freezer in the garage that we're going to keep it in. I don't think the foodsaver is necessary, but it definitely helps keep air out. Another way I know of keeping food good in the freezer is wrap in tinfoil, then put in plastic bag, then my favorite chef Alton Brown taught me this, close the bag up till the last little corner and suck out the remaining air with a straw. Lol! I know, sounds weird, but it works! And you won't get freezerburn.

The main reason I want to foodsaver, if they have the wet version is you can make a whole meal, like chicken chili and then foodsaver it. I have yet to try this and it may totally suck, but I think I have to do it once. I'm an overachiever... Embarrassed

so i bought the 40lbs based on sarack saying it's the 4x the size as the costco bag----- i went to costco today.... the bag i was thinking of is 6.5lbs...that's the one i get when i get it from there. there *is* a 10lb bag, but i don't get that. so crap. i don't know if i'll fit 40lbs!!! guess i'll have to utilize my parents' freezer!
