Do you believe in ghosts?

Or psychics? Basically any of the paranormal?

I watched a Ghost Hunters marathon last night, so I'm just curious what people think.

Me... I'm a skeptic. I don't say that anything doesn't exist, but I'm not necessarily a real believer. I fall somewhere in the middle, I guess.

Re: Do you believe in ghosts?

  • I'd say I fall on the side of believing.  Obviously there are a lot of frauds out there but I do believe that some people are gifted with special abilities and I guess I do believe in the possibility of lingering spirits.

    I love Lisa Williams's show.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • In reality, I probably fall on the side of believing also. I'm really open to it, but I'm still skeptical about everything.

I went to a psychic last week and she said a bunch of crazy stuff... Add that to Ghost Hunters last night, and I have been thinking a lot about how I'm moving in to a house full of ghosts hahaha

  • I believe in spirits or supernatural things. I don't know if the term "ghosts" really qualify what I believe, since I feel like "ghost" describes something you can see. I think some people can see spirits and others can't or don't. I don't know, I'm weird. Wink

  • I don't know if I truly believe in ghosts, but I definitely think traumatic events can definitely imprint an energy on a space.  I lived in a place once that I'm convinced was haunted.

    ...hello out there!

  • I probably wouldn't if it weren't for DH-- he does and he creeps me out.
  • I do believe in spirits, but I don't think they are mean like you see in the movies. I honestly take a more The Others approach- the spirits have no idea they are dead and don't see us/know about us.

I'd like to think demons and spiteful ghosts are not real. But I don't know.

I don't know if I believe in psychics but I'd sure go to one!

That's always the approach I've had, but here's what happened to me...

I was really in to the paranormal as a kid (normal, I know) and begged my mother to take me to a psychic for my 14th birthday. I took notes as she spoke and found them recently, and among other things she said:

I had already met my H (which I had) and he was sent to me by my grandmother (they have the same birthday!). She described him physically. She told me how old I would be when I had my first child, that I would have a boy, and his astrological sign (all of which was true).

So that's why I went back again last week haha

Wow, I was wondering what that first psychic had been right about since you sort of mentioned it in one of your other posts.

I've only been to a psychic once.  It was with a bunch of girlfriends and we all listened to each other's readings.  She was really good at reading some of the other girls but with me she seemed a little off base, which everyone agreed with.  She taped the session...I really need to find that thing and listen to it.

    Whoa. That's heavy.

  • When I am there, I think "this lady is full of sh!t." And then I start thinking "Oh no... What if she knows I'm thinking that?"

    HA!!

I was just putting a spoonful of soup into my mouth and just about spit it out at my monitor upon reading this!

I'm pretty sure they know a lot of people are thinking that (and it doesn't take psychic ability to figure that out).

That's what my H said, but I still worry about it.

I have actually been to the same place a bunch of times (maybe 6 times total?). I can think of one time in particular where I got basically no information and it was a total waste of money. I don't know why, but I think some days either the psychic or I are having an off day.

But I save all of my notes, and it's crazy to go back and read them sometimes.

Hahaha! That's funny. But seriously, that's really freaky about all the stuff she said. I don't really believe in psychics, but sometimes they make you wonder.

  • And... I swear there is an orb in the picture I took of the upstairs bathroom in our new house.

I've clearly got the paranormal on my mind these days.

    This is crazy!  Very cool.

I don't know what I believe.  I get deja vu pretty frequently which freaks me out.  I would be interested to go to a psychic but I know that I would just worry about whatever I would hear.

  • That's so funny, LadyE. I went to a psychic a couple of times when I was younger. Some of the stuff they predicted came true, but most of that was generic, lucky guesses. Though she did tell me once that my mom was going to put a new roof on her house that year, and it happened.  Hee!

And I'm a total skeptic. I don't really believe in ghosts and whatnot. Though when I worked at the Twain House, there were a couple of creepy incidents that made me wonder for a minute or two.  They were on Ghost Hunters a few months back, I guess, but I didn't watch.

  • Not even a little bit.
