Contractor request for 2story addition

I am looking to put a two story addition on the back of my house. Main level would be a kitchen and family room, upstairs would be the master bed room (its a cape cod so we lose some space on the second level). I have spoken to six contractors so far. The only one I really liked was way way way over budget (like twice as much as any body else).

Any suggestions for a competent contractor? I am inside the Beltway in Montgomery county. Thanks!

Re: Contractor request for 2story addition

  • I've recommended AMGC LLC once or twice on here before - fair disclaimer, it's my DH's business :)  But they're licensed and insured, take pride in their work, and his workers have renovated close to everything in our house and I've been happy.  Their website is here: http://amgcllc.com/?cat=3.  They can do a walk-through and give you a proposal, you can call Tito Torres at 240-672-6001, or ttorres@amgcllc.com.

Whoever you go with, make sure they're licensed and insured, otherwise if something goes wrong you'll wind up eating the cost. Also, remember you can always ask for before/ after pictures, and you can ask for references.  Good luck!
