CD mommas-questions

I think I'm pretty set on what we need for cloth diapers (we registered for them, got some for xmas, etc and will buy the rest if we don't get them at a shower)

But, I'm confused on all the stuff I'm reading about diaper creams, etc.  What do you use/recommend for CDs?  It appears that a lot of the normal drugstore stuff (butt paste, etc) aren't great for CDs?

Are there other "products" you consider must haves?  (not diapers-other stuff...)

Thanks girls.

  • I obviously have no advice but go read my response on the actress thread!

Totally made me smile!  I think I copy one of her haircuts about every time I go to the salon.  Now I want my hair long like that picture-it's my new inspiration.  Plus I just like her a lot. Stick out tongue

On a random note-glad to see you around here more often again! I know you got really busy for awhile.  Are you guys back in school already?  And still TTC yes?  My fingers are crossed for you!

  • I like Method Baby Sqeaky Green diaper cream. It's CD safe and doesn't have much of an odor.  But it doesn't work well for really bad rashes.  For really bad rashes I use non-CD safe creams and use disposables.  I can't find Method cream at any stores so I have to buy it online and that can get pretty expensive and inconvenient.

I am currently trying some samples of CJ's BUTTer.  It smells really good, but just like the Method cream, it doesn't seem to work real well on bad rashes.  I use it more as a preventative.

I have Burt's Bees which I don't believe is CD safe and I can't stand the smell of it!  It has such a strong odor!  California Baby too, has a really strong odor that I can't stand, but it is CD safe.

I haven't heard about the Method stuff, so will look it up.  Good to know on the bad rashes=disposables and a stronger cream.

I've heard a lot of good things about CA baby products in general.  Might be worth trying them it sounds like?  If I can stand the smell. :-)

Yep back to school this week then masters classes start back up in a couple weeks then soccer season so I am enjoying this wave of down time! Hopefully you have some down time before baby is here! Not ttc anymore right now because I may have a chance to switch to the district my h is in. I am afraid if I don't take it now I may never have the chance again which means waiting on ttc for at least another year. I talk to them this month so hopefully ican have an answer on that soon and know which part of my life to move on with:)

I admire your cloth diaper plans. I can't get past the idea of poop on fabric! Will we see a baby bump pic soon????

  • we use CJButter. LOVE it. We have the regular stuff we use daily and the Pluss (yeast formula) that works great when we have yeast. Love love cjbutter and now have some of their lotion and love that too.
  • We use California Baby and CJ's BUTTer.

I agree with Nikki in that the CJ's BUTTer really does nothing to get rid of rashes, but can be helpful in preventing them. California Baby usually does the trick for a mild rash for us. On the rare occasion we get a severe rash, we do the same as Nikki--disposables and some maximum strength Desitin.

As far as other essentials... did you get something to use as cloth wipes? We use the really cheap Gerber baby wash cloths that you can get at BRU. They come like 8 in a pack for under $5. We bought 5 packs. They've been great.

  • Desitin Clear has worked great for us!
