BWLO Schedule Question

Hello ladies! Benjamin has croup.  He started coughing last night and we took him to a pediatric walk-in clinic at about 10 pm.  They gave him a dose of steroids and told us to get a cool mist humidifier.  By the time we got back home, it was 11 pm.  He (thankfully) stayed asleep when I took him out of the car and put him into his crib......and while we set up the humidifier.  He woke up at his normal time, but was so exhausted he couldn't even stand.  He went back to bed until almost 9:30.

Here is his normal schedule: 6:30 wake-up, 7 breakfast, 9 nap, 11 lunch, 12:30 nap, 3 bottle, 4 nap, 5 dinner, 6 bedtime routine starts and asleep by 7.

Well, he hasn't has breakfast and slept until into his normal naptime.   What would you do regarding his schedule today?  Obviously, I will give him breakfast now.  However........I don't want to just push everything back almost 3 hours! I was thinking maybe a larger breakfast and a 2nd bottle at 1.

Any words of wisdom or advice from those how have been there before?  I really want to keep this being 'off' to 1 day if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Re: BWLO Schedule Question

  • I always think when they are sick, let them set their schedule. If he wants to nap more let him nap more. He may just want to cuddle and relax too. I would try to keep bedtime routine the same

Hope he is feeling better soon!

  • I agree - I just wouldn't let him nap any later in the day than you normally do and keep bedime the same.
  • Landon was on a similar schedule until last week (minus the 3 naps... we're lucky to get 1).

But he usually sleeps until 5-6am. When we don't have to wake him up on the weekends, he rarely sleeps until after 7am. If that's the case, feed him right when he wakes up and skip normal breakfast from 8-8:30. He still does fine.
