I've decided that registries are for the birds!
When we got married I didn't want to register because it seemed like it was a bigger hassle than it would be worth. Was I right? yes!!! we only had a very select few gifts bought off of our registries (at the most 5).
Now with the baby shower coming up I've been having to work on the baby registry. It's driving me crazy.. people better buy stuff I want off of it or I'm never going to register again in my life.. well other than to maybe get the discount!
I guess I'm just sick of trying to decide where to get stuff etc. When I get get half of it on Amazon for a decent price, or shop around and find exactly what I want.

so i'm super irritated about our amazon registry... our shower is this weekend, and only a few people bought from there. a few bought from BRU, okay. but h and i took the time to do price matching, etc, and only put the lowest price item on either amazon or BRU...and since nobody really bought from AMZ, today i double-registered for everything (much more expensive!) at BRU, since most people will probably just pick something up sunday morning instead of shopping ahead of time. i don't want people to spend more than they should on these items!!!!
this is me being a whiney ungrateful brat.
chinese baby parties are easier (and weddings, for that matter). cash. so easy.

The thing that gets me is the ladies from our church host a baby shower. There is a lot of older ladies who come who don't go online to see what the M2B wants. So they'll go to Walmart and buy me cheap crap.. and it'll be guaranteed to be in yellow or greens..
I know this from having been to several showers in the last year or so and it always seems to happen. I guess it just annoys me that they don't try buy something from where you are registered!

i disagree with this... we should all be very happy/lucky people will be buying us gifts at all. a registry is really just a guide on things that you like, and if people shop from there, yay! but if they don't, then that's up to them. they're still spending their money on you and buying you a gift...

Okay... I should rephrase that.
I really appreciate that they spend their money on "us/baby". I guess I just don't see what the point of registering is if people don't look at your registry to see what your tastes/style is, and buy something completely different.

amazon registry is seriously the way to go.
i don't understand why people feel the need to get creative... i picked the shiit out on my registry for you to buy it.. duh.
This. Well, for the most part. That's why I love regesties. I am bad at guessing what people want so it's nice to know I am buying something they want and would use.
For our wedding someone gave us two decorative plate. Small things that we don't use and they just sit on our shelf collecting dust. I know they tried and I appreciate the gesture. They were extended family so they don't know us very well. Since that is the case, why go hunting it the dark for a gift and pick something from the registry? I would have if I was in their shoes.
my currently-reading shelf:
i'm thankful that people buy things. but i think i'd rather buy something some one wants to ensure that they'll use it. if you don't like the crap they buy from walmart.. you may not ever use it.. but you would have used a gift card in the same amount to the place you registered.
