not on permanent bedrest :)
I get to go back to work (yay!!), although I have to basically teach from my chair or stool. Thank goodness I have high schoolers.
I still need all the recs for movies and books from my previous post, b/c I can't do much outside the house except for work. So I'll still be watching a lot of TV and reading lots of books for the remainder of this pregnancy, just not quite as much as we had thought, thankfully!
Re: not on permanent bedrest :)
Hooray! That's great news!
Here's a book rec or two - I didn't see the other post so apologies if it's already been said. I really like She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb, and another favorite of mine is The Book of Ruth. Another huge favorite is Red Sky At Morning. Just try to not have a huge crush on the main character, too. I'm STILL practically in love with him.
None of those were in the previous post, so you're good
Thanks so much for the recs!
That's great news!
I'm really enjoying books by Joyce Carol Oates lately. One caution though, they don't necessarily have a happy, feel-good ending to them. More like real life than "they lived happily ever after."
We read both of those my senior year of high school and they're some of the few books I've kept over the year (I'm a stuff purger.) I love those!
I'd also add The Prince of Tides (Pat Conroy) just because the prose in that book reads like poetry and the Levitt and the Gladwell books if you want some light non-fiction. Geek Love is also a fun book just because it's SO different than anything I've ever read (it's about a family whose father intentionally breeds circus freaks.)
My favorite book is The Stand by Steven King. I know it's not a work of great literature, but I'm fascinated by the idea of starting society anew. And, since it's 1000+ pages, it'll keep you busy.
I'm happy you're not stuck on bedrest! Yay!
