I thought I went through all of the scenarios. Ruled out all of the potential annoying nicknames and negative connotations.
And then over New Years I realized how LO will be teased with his name -
Mini Cooper
He's tiny. He's been slow to gain weight, but I just think that's him and he is going to be tiny. I'm 5'2" and DH is 5'3" so we weren't expecting a giant. I should have thought of this. LO will be called the name of (an equally cute, but still??) car by bullies. Bad mommy!
And then there's DH and I's nickname for him - Mr. Cooper, after a 90's sitcom (from before many of you were probably old enough to watch tv, so I suspect we are safe on that route).
Anyone else give their child a name and then realize afterwards that it could be the subject of some teasing?
Re: What did I do!!! Baby name...
we call elle mini me since she is soo tiny.
And I do remember Hanging with Mr. Cooper!!
Honestly kids find a way to give almost everyone a nickname

I don't have a LO but I used to love Hangin' with Mr. Cooper
Cooooooo-oooooooo-per
Mini Cooper isn't that bad of a nickname, I think it's kind of cute! There are much worse nicknames out there that kids get called.
We chose Aspen even though we are well aware of what the first syllable is and could potentially cause some teasing. Oh well, I think every kid will get teased for something in their life at one point.

Me too!
As a side note- I think kids will make fun of any name, regardless. Kids used to say "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee" to me when I was a kid, that isn't even an insult. And they called my friend Connie, Connie Chung. Kids are dumb.
When we named him I didn't think the spelling scenario would bother me, but it so does! He's clearly a Zac, with a c in my mind. We had ID cards made for the rec center, and they printed his name Zak and OMG! It irked me.
I don't think Mini Cooper is that bad of a name. It could be much worse. Kids will always find some way to make a nickname or make fun of another kid. Even when not meant to be mean, it just happens.
My mother didn't think Jill could be made into any form of a nickname or be made fun of. Yeah... right. If I heard "where's Jack?" one more time growing up. It rhymes with everything, add the urban dictionary definition and my name pretty much sucks when it comes to kids.
At least you weren't a man, duh!
Or Trickey, while cool suddenly turned into Trick-or-Treat at Halloween/Turkey at Thanskgiving.
I loved Hangin' with Mr. Cooper! Haha.
And I agree-Mini Cooper isn't terrible at all. It's hard to find a name that can't be turned into SOMETHING.
THink about this: I'm a 6 foot tall, weightlifting, shotputting female... and there are basically two references that come up with people hear my name. One of which is the cowboy BUTCH Cassidy.
Thanks mom and dad!
This. I don't think mini cooper is bad name....
My old boss named her daughter Kasey Jones. That was an oops. Mini Cooper, not so bad. I think of fun when I hear that.

I don't get it. Am I sheltered or just dense?
However, Cassidy, I have to say that Butch Cassidy made me lol.
I assume it's the railroad guy reference:

I used to play a song on the piano called Casey Jones, so that's my only reference (apparently he had a few songs written about him).
Drivin' that train
High on cocaine
Casey Jones you better
watch your speed
Trouble ahead
Trouble behind
and you know that notion
just crossed my mind
It's a pretty famous Grateful Dead song. I can't imagine her getting a speeding ticket someday.
