Propane companies?

Hi ladies,

Does anyone use Pit Stop Fuel out of Standish for Propane? We are thinking about switching - the price seems almost too good to be true! Any thoughts about the company would be super helpful. Thanks!

  • I don't know about that one in particular, but we just did a little research on prices for oil.  What DH found out is the ones that are cheaper are the ones that don't have trained maintenance guys in case there's an emergency, so they can keep their prices lower.  What we're doing is putting our name on an "on call" basis from our current deliverer (to keep us active if we have a problem) and rely on the cheaper one for the majority of our need.  Every once in a while, we'll fill up with the team with the maintenance crew in case there's an emergency we're covered.  HTH. :)

  • We use them for oil and have never had a problem. They are very good about delivering when we need them on (on-call basis) and they just bill my credit card.

But I think the PP might be right. They don't have their own maintainence crew. For our boiler, we were sent to a guy from Windham, who we have had very mixed success with.

  • Like Susie, we use them for oil, and I love them.  I mean, I love them as much as you can love an oil company.  And it's true that they don't service anything for us, but we just use an outside person rather than having them refer us to someone and it's worked out perfectly so far.

Would you mind PMing me the name of the person you use? The guy we use was referred to us through them and he's gotten on my nerves (didn't want my husband in the basement when he was doing the service). So I'd love to find someone else.

  • Thanks ladies! We don't need a service plan (we have someone else for that). So it sounds like they might work for us!

Let me see if I can find out from Josh.  We don't actually get much service done on the oil system because we have pellet and really end up using the oil just for hot water.

  • We really only do the once (or every other) year cleanings, so it's nothing major. But the two times we've had the guy at our place, it hasn't been an experience that makes me thrilled to recommend him to others (if you KWIM).
