Weather

What is the weather like where you live right now?

I live in eastern Nebraska, and typically around this time of year, it is below freezing with many inches of snow on the ground. However, the forecast for tomorrow is 62 degrees! What the what?!

It's been unusually warm for about the last three weeks. It was 50 on Christmas. Just two years ago it was blizzarding so badly on Christmas that traveling was impossible. I know weather can be crazy, but I don't remember it ever being like this!!

We are either having the mildest Nebraska winter ever, or winter is soon to retaliate with buckets and buckets of snow and ice. I am crossing my fingers for the first scenario!

Re: Weather

  • I am in Northern Virginia and the past two day have been freezing, but other than that we have had an extremely mild winter. Most days have been mid 40's to mid 50's. Crazyness!

This, cause I live like a county away, haha. It's supposed to be warm here again on the weekend.

  • It has been unseasonably warm here too.  I live in central Illinois.  We have been staying around the mid 40s to low 50s lately.  We had a few days that were more the normal range (20s -30s) for this time of year, but it last about a day, and then the temps go back up.  We haven't had any snow yet either except for a few flurries here and there, but we have had a lot of rain.  I'm so thankful that it's been warmer, or all that rain would have made for a ton of snow to dig out from!

I hate winter, so I'll take these mild temps and no snow any day!  I will admit though that is making me nervous that it's just setting us up to be dumped on and freezing temps in February.  I've go my fingers crossed that's not the case!!

I'm up in the Chicago burbs, and I'm nervous too about what we can still be coming our way this winter. I remember all that snow we got last year on Feb. 1st and I'm hoping we avoid that this year!

  • Also in the Chicago Burbs...  and I can guarantee it won't snow much this year... all b/c I bought DH a Wovel for Christmas!  A wovel is a wheeled shovel!  Some guy down the street has one, and DH mentioned he wanted it last spring. And then mentioned it again recently.    This is a wovel:  image

Oh my, that thing is awesome!  I've never heard of a wovel before.

My DH says it wont snow this year either because we bought a snow blower that he is just dying to try out.  He also bought a new ice auger for ice fishing that he wants to play with.  He says just to spite him, we are going to have a mild winter now.  Fine by me!!!

  • We are having a mild winter too!  It was cold yesterday and today, but is going to be warmer the rest of the week.  I live in central Ohio and am more worried about getting tons of ice this year like we did last year.  That's worse than the snow in my opinion...my electric always goes out when we get ice.  As for snow...we rarely get more than 6 inches at a time, so I'm not too worried.

  • Buffalo, NY only has a dusting of snow. We're nearly 30inches behind our normal snowfall. We did have a cold snap on Tuesday/Wednesday where the temp was only 3* and felt like -15* but today it was back into the 40's.
