  • Yep!  We just got her last night.  Someone from the command got her from a rescue last year, and were looking to re-home her, so we took her.

  • Boston Terriers are so dang cute!

I'm totally a cat person, but I've decided if I were to ever get a dog it would definitely be one of those smushy face breeds lol.

  • H had Stewie (the one on the right) before we met, and I had never known anyone with a Boston so I didn't know much about the breed.  But they are awesome dogs.  We had talked about getting a puppy once we moved to VA and had our fenced in yard, and then we heard about this one so we decided to take her.  It's going amazingly well so far between the two of them.

Thanks!  I like to think they are super cute too, but I know I'm biased.

  • They're both cutie patooties.

    And welcome to Virginia!

Thanks!  I'm not there yet, but I'll be there in about 2 and a half weeks probably.  My movers come in less than a week then I'm starting my drive after.  We didn't want to get another dog until after moving so we didn't have to worry about the car ride with 2 dogs, but then this one became available and we said eff it.  Well I guess H said eff it for me since I'm doing the drive with them, not him.

D'oh! Reading fail I guess; I thought perhaps you were here and just didn't have a fence yet.

Good luck with the move! You'll be getting here just in time for the coldest part of the winter months - thankfully it is (comparatively) short lived.

How cold are the cold months?  I'm originally from Buffalo, so hopefully it still seems warm to me.  Here when it gets in the 30s and 40s people are bundled up like crazy, and I'm usually just in a hoodie or something.

And thanks, I'm not really looking forward to the drive, but it will at least be interesting.  A good friend here timed their move with ours, and we are driving together in my Jeep.  So 2 of us, a 4 year old, and 2 dogs.  It will at least be interesting!

Oh then you are so going to laugh at us. It doesn't usually snow around here (the last 2 winters were unusual in that aspect - but even that doesn't compare to Buffalo) and we're actually more likely to get ice. The coldest month is usually February with highs in the upper 20s to mid-30s. Right now, according to Weather.com, our average temp for January is like upper 40s.

We just have a lot of crazy temp jumps; it was 32 for a high this past Wednesday and this Saturday we're expecting a high of 67. And this is normal.

  • Virginia weather is the best. I love being able to wear flip flops one week, then being able to show off my cute winter clothes the next.

Also, when you get here I will give you a run-down of the best places to eat!

  • That basically sounds like our winters here in WA (with less rain hopefully), which is perfect for me.

Mary that would be awesome!  I don't remember what area you said you live in, if you did say it.  We are living in Hickory, but my friend moving with me is going to be over in Hampton, so we will be all over the place probably eating and doing stuff.  Any tips or recommendations would be much appreciated!

  • I live in Greenbrier, which is like 15 minutes away.

  • I know I've heard of it and seen it, but I'm clueless to where it is right now.  But well within driving distance for good food!

You'll learn quickly enough - I'm in Great Bridge myself. I smell a G2G cooking?
