Our baby name options

Hi ladies!  I hope the holidays were great for everyone.  I have been MIA lately but life has settled down again and things are returning to normal.

DH and I have narrowed down our name options but we haven't officially decided.  We have a top three but in my mind it's really a top 2. The background on our names is that DH's family has 2 family names which are Joseph and Walter.  We are not going to use either for our first name but it's important to DH to use one as the middle name. So here's what we have:

Parker Joseph

Mason Walter

Owen Walter

so what do you ladies think?  I have had several family members comment that if we name him Parker we are setting him up to be made fun of.  I can't figure out why.  So if you have any idea how Parker is easily made fun of let me know.  I also tell people our kid is going to be made fun of for his last name before anything else.  If you are friends with me on facebook you will know why.

  • I know a Parker, and he was never made fun of for his name!

I love the name Mason. Carter was almost a Mason, but I didn't want his first name and last name to start with the same letter (my own weird preference).

  • Cute names! One of my BFF's just had a baby and named him Mason- I think that's probably my favorite of the three, but I like them all. :)
  • I like them all. I prefer Mason or Owen, but that's probably because my niece's dog is named Parker. I knew a few in school though, and thought it was a fine name, I don't remember them being made fun of for their names at all.

  • I like all three.  Parker and Mason were both on my list but my husband vetoed them.  He didn't have a reason to veto Mason, but he had a long list for Parker.  Among them was "Park-her, I don't even know her" (Which made no sense to me, but his brothers said the same thing).  He then said that Parker seems like the name of a lawyer on a tv show.  I still think it is really cute though :)

I don't know your last name, but as long as the names flow nice I wouldn't worry too much about being made fun of for a last name.  I lived with my bad maiden name for a long time and really it was hardly ever an issue!

  • I think Owen is my favorite. I know a little red headed Parker :) He's cute and I've never thought of any odd nick names for Parker. I'm sure you could find some if you try but you could also find them with any name (Mason Jar?) lol.
    Happiest place on Earth!

  • Mason is my favorite and really like Parker too. You can't go wrong with any of them.

  • Parker is DH's name choice for our next son. I can't think of any ways it could be made fun of - and as we've all said before, every name has opportunity to be made fun of if kids want to.

ETA: I love Mason, but we live so close to Mason, Ohio that I dunno, I just couldn't do it.

  • Great names! I love Mason, in fact its on my boy list for next time.
  • I am partial to Owen as it's one of my faves (but DH vetoed).  I think they are all good choices b/c between Parker and Mason, I like Parker better.  I feel like I hear Mason all the time and I prefer less common names.
  • love them all--I have not yet had any students with these names so no bad associations!!

  • I really like Parker Joseph. I think it has the best flow out of the 3 names. Great choices all around though.

I was going to say the same thing! All of the choices are great, though!

  • Can't put my finger on why, but I'm really digging Owen Walter.

Good luck with your decision, all the names are really cute!

  • I like all three as well. If I had to put them in order: Owen, Parker, Mason. But again, I like them all.

This is me too. Probably because I know a little boy named Owen who is adorable, and Mason is an adult friend who can be a little loud. But namewise, I like them all Smile

This exactly :)  All great names to choose from!

  • I love Owen!!  That was on our short list of boys names.  I also like Mason.... there are two boys at daycare named Mason and they are so cute!
  • I like them all.  The only possible negative nn I can come up with for Parker is "porker," which could be horrible for a kid with any weight or self-esteem issues.  I think any name can be turned to something, though, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.  Kids can be mean & give any number of nicknames, regardless of name.

  • I love Parker Joseph!
  • I think Parker Joseph flows the best, but I really like all of the names that you picked out. People might shorten Parker Joseph to PJ. That's all I can think of for nicknames for Parker.
