Aruba - Questions

We are deciding between Paris (see other post) and Aruba for a trip this year.  What time of year do you recommend or not recommend for Aruba?  We'd prefer to go for our anniversary which is August 31st.  I know Aruba is out of the hurricane belt but I am still skeptical.  I feel that with the weather these days, who knows!  What kind of conditions (temps, water, wind) can we expect during late August/very early September?  We would want to stay at The Hyatt, so any other tips and recommendations are greatly appreciated. = )

Re: Aruba - Questions

  • We went to Aruba last February.  It was mid 80s and sunny everyday but one.  The one day it rained the entire day which is rare for Aruba.  Since it is so close to the Equator it has rather consistent weather all the time.

  • We honeymooned in Aruba the first week of September (back in '05).  Weather was perfect, of course.  Sunny and in the 80s every day.  Aruba's TV stations don't even forecast the weather because it's the same nearly every day of the year.  :)  The only thing I will warn you about is how dangerous the sun exposure can be down there, because it is so close to the equator.  Definitely be vigilant about applying sunscreen often.

  • We went to Aruba the first week of June and it was hot and humid but bearable. I don't think the weather changes much there so anytime will be good to visit. We stayed at the Marriot and walked or took Taxis or the public bus to places we wanted to go. The taxis are pretty cheap, fodd is really good and people very helpful.

  • Aruba is awesome all year round.  It is VERY VERY rare for them to get hit by a bad storm, "Aruba has a history of very few hurricanes ? only six have passed within 62 miles of the island since 1877. This is close enough for at least some effects to be felt."  Nothing is a guarantee but I would not avoid Aruba during hurricane season.

  • the weather forecast is almost always 87, sunny and 20% chance of rain (but it rarely rains).  i was told by a local that they don't even publish the weather in the local paper b/c it is so consistent.  not sure if that is true, but the 2 times i've been to Aruba, the weather has been amazing!  The is always a breeze/wind blowing due to tradewinds.  it is very pleasant but pretty pointless to fix your hair up nice ;)

The Hyatt is one of the nicest places on Palm Beach.  The only downfall (IMO) is that you can't sit / relax on the balconies - they are walk out.  And the railings are far apart so if you have little ones you have to be careful.

i love Aruba - have fun.

  • We went to Aruba for our honeymoon in September of 2008, and had a wonderful time!  The weather was gorgeous, and the people were so nice.  We stayed at the Occidental Grand, which was great!  I have been to Europe too, and it is (of course) amazing.  To be, they are very different trips so I guess it depends on what kind of trip you want (i.e. relaxing by the beach, or taking in the sights of a European city).  I don't think you can go wrong either way!

  • We went to Aruba for our honeymoon in 2010, we went the second week of June and it was absolutely perfect weather. It rained once for like ten minutes and then was perfect again. We stayed at Bucuti and it was an absolutely amazing experience, I would stay there every time we go there if they let children stay there! Their beach is beautiful too!!
