Bedding help

We are in the market for new bedding. DH wants a duvet cover but I'm a little unfamiliar with them. It's sold separate from the other pieces (fancy pillows, down comforter, etc)? Right?!?!

We want to move beyond the bed in a bag. Lol. Aren't there some "white" sale coming up soon as well? Thanks ladies

Re: Bedding help

  • A duvet is traditionally for feAther beds. However I used one this year for my son. He had a comforter from khols and I got clips from bed bath and beyond. They keep the comforter in the duvet.

  • we've used duvets with regular comforters and with down comforters and i only liked the ease of cleaning them. they never seemed to hold in place though and i was always restraightening them. i'm just not a fan.

my husband was pro-duvet too - lol! is it a guy thing?!

january is a traditional white sale month - linens are on sale at lots of places now.

we're in the market for new bedroom furniture which would also mean a larger mattress so i too am looking for new bedding. i plan to buy a comforter with coordinating sheets but will likely skip the fancy pillows because i never use them.

  • I'm anti-duvet.  It's such a pain to get the comforter or spread you are using inside of it correctly and it ends up shifting all around and needing to be straightened out all the time.  I just don't get the point of them.

  • We have a duvet and have used it with a down comforter as well as regulaer ol' bed in a bag comforter. I bought the clips to keep it in place and they seem to work. I like it because it's an inexpensive alternative to purchasing n entire bed set. I admit though 9 times out of 10 I kick the thing off of the bed because I get hot as h3ll.

  • I guess I'm in the minority. We have a duvet and down comforter and I love it. I have my technique that I use to get the cover on and we haven't had a problem with it shifiting, and it's all we've used for the past 8 or 9 years.
  • Must be a guy thing, A took me to pick out a duvet for my birthday last year (he must have been out of ideas!).  I have used it with a down comfortable but also have thrown those cheap, walmart comfortors in them as well.  They do tend to shift.
