Do children need snow suits in Paris?
DD barely needs one here for the 2-3 times each winter when snow actually sticks. However, I have a friend with a child just a little older than DD who passes on her snow suits every year, all in mint condition since her kid barely uses them either. I have one hanging in the closet right now that DD has never worn.
So, do I pack it and take it with us to Paris or do I just pass it on to someone else here?
Re: Do children need snow suits in Paris?
I've never lived in Paris, but I've spent a lot of time there when it's snowing. Even when it snowed really heavily and stuck I didn't think it was anything some waterproof boots and a good coat couldn't handle. Even for kids I think a snow suit might be overkill. One would come in handy if your daughter wanted to make snow angels in a park, but otherwise I'd skip it.
Yes, that's me! Skipping the snow suit means more room for other stuff.
I would say no. It has been rather a mild winter, plus even in snow, you could probably put her in layered clothes and waterproof boots and she would be fine.
edited: unless you plan on taking a trip to the mountains while you are here. Paris is a train ride away from lots of good locations.
Two things: I haven't been to Paris yet, so I'm no expert. And Germans tend to overdress their kids in cold weather. That said, kids here near Wiesbaden, Germany wear their snowsuits or coat and snow pants all the time when it is cold. I sometimes dress DS in his snow pants for the walk to Kindergarten if it is cold, rainy or windy.
It could be handy to have the snowsuit, but you also may be able to pop into H&M (which they MUST have in Paris) and get some inexpensive snow pants if you find you need them.
I will consider this, but DH and I are not skiiers or wintery-outdoors types. We tried to take up snowshoeing a few years ago and thought the best part was just sitting inside by the fire!
Like Germany, Switzerland overdresses their kids. Well they over dress themselves too with winter coats in August. I've even seen kids in a rain jacket styled snowsuit... It was August over 80 F and it wasn't even raining just a little muddy.

In Paris? No. You're lucky if it snows at all. Winters in Paris are mild. It's always above 32F during the day.
If you go in the mountains, then yes a snow suit will be useful.
Side note: I used to live in Paris and the suburbs for over 10 years. Now that I live in Minnesota, I miss wearing regular shoes all winter long. In Paris, I could wear cute ballerinas in January. In Minnesota, I have to wear Ugg type boots because of the snow and extreme cold.
Snowshoeing? Really? No wonder you don't like winter outdoor activities!
