Moms - rash after fever

A got a fever over the weekend. It lasted about 24 hours and she had once case of diarrhea and then everything went away. Within a day or so(that I noticed), she developed a faint rash all over her torso, arms and legs. it's not dark and is not raised. The spots are about the size of a pinhead so nothing crazy.

Is this normal?

These are the two things I hate the most....fevers and rashes. I never know

  • Mason had what they called "roseola" or something like that.  High fever for a few days, and then it was gone, and he was covered in spots.  Google it.  He was fine, just very spotty.

  • Really normal for my kids.  We're super fair skinned - almost translucent, so I think it's more common with fair skinned kids to get a torso/arm/upper leg rash after a viral-induced fever.

    I'm glad she's feeling better.

I worried about this with my kids when they were smaller...my ped said that scarlet fever has a distinct "feel like sandpaper" compared to viral purge rashes.  Plus, I think it spreads to hands, feet and faces, but don't quote me on that.

We have a confirmed case of Scarlet fever in our daycare center right now so I should go look it up again just in case.

  • Yeah, I think it's roseola. I looked at some images and they look just like her. fun times

  • I have one of the most pathetic looking pics of Mason, in the bathtub, with his roseola rash all over him.  The ped said the rash actually isn't painful or itchy or anything.  It took 2 or 3 days to finally go away.
