Staging Costs for Condo

For a two bedroom condo, this service offers a "starter package" for $250.  Is this overpriced or on target?  Our place is about 900 sq. ft.

I need to email the individual to see what exactly was included, but wanted to see first what average costs for this typically are.

Re: Staging Costs for Condo

  • From the website, this includes:

Edit space of clutter and use seller?s furnishings, accessories, artwork and lighting with a complete rearrangement of home d?cor to achieve maximum impact.

  • This seems like stuff you could do yourself for free.

This was what I was thinking. I don't really think I would pay someone for this.

  • I thought about that- but I am kind of interior design challenged.  I guess that I can make a go of it and then see if I need assistance.

  • Have you talked to your realtor about it?  Mine is great and she was willing to physically move our furniture around for us and give ideas on decluttering.  She also was willing to bring in one of her very own tables to stage our house in an empty area.  I would push for more help from the realtor since they are being paid well.  Yes, its not their job to stage, but they can push you in the right direction and save you some $$.
  • It doesn't sound like a lot of money, but I'd rather pay for a sewer inspection than a stager.  Ask for pictures from the past - some stagers are way better than others.

  • Our realtor brought a stager in for one hour.  She ran through the house and gave us a list of what to do.  What to get rid of, what to move around, etc.

There actually wasn't too much true "decoration" involved, but we could have hired her at $75 an hour to do that for us.

Most of it is really about de-cluttering.  Personal pictures, belongings, etc.  If you have furniture in an odd spot (we had 3 small bookshelves lining our hallway in the basement), remove it.

Heck- if you want, take pictures of the rooms in your house and post them here and we could even try and give you some ideas!!

  • I agree, it sounds like you could do this yourself. Take pics of your space and your stuff and post them on D&R. The ladies over there are great about giving ideas or rearranging space to maximize its appeal.

  • Definitely post pix on D&R before you pay for anything.  The girls over there will give great (and free!) advice.  Also ask your realtor if they have any suggestions for you.  Honestly, there's only so much you can do with your own furnishings/decor.  I think a combination of D&R and your realtor will be able to maximize the appeal of your own furnishings as well as the stager could.
  • Thanks, all- thats a great idea.  Once we are closer to listing I will post on D&R.  I also think I need to look for other realtors.  The one we are thinking of using (no committments made yet) gave us the referral to this stager.  She doesn't seem much help on this point.  =)
