How are things with Alex and Cori? How has sleep been going for Alex?
Also was wondering, are you CD Cori now? How are the three monkey's working on her?
Re: **Jill**
Things are going well. Cori has been a great sleeper so far, so I'm loving every minute of that. Alex has been a challenge. She was all disrupted from the hospital stay and MIL not doing things the way we do, then she developed a cold over the weekend, so she just went back to her room for sleep last night. I think she still wakes up more times in a night than Cori. H and I swap nights, and it's scary that we both would prefer to deal with the newborn sleep patterns than our toddlers.
The diapers are OS, so they won't really work until 10 pounds, and Cori is in the 7s right now. I've been using them on Alex and I LOVE them! I wish I had my whole stash of these things. So cute, just as absorbant as the BG or Blueberry ones, and Stacey gave me three different insert options, although I haven't noticed a big difference between them, they all last about the same amount of time. I can't wait until Cori is big enough to fit into them. I also won one day of her 12 days of Christmas give away, so I have two more being made.
Heather - Breastfeeding ended after 5 days. My milk didn't come in before Cori had gone down to barely being awake, and no interest in nursing. She droped a pound from her birth weight and I couldn't pump out anything (after three tries, the most I got was 0.10oz and that was on day 5). We tried cup feeding formula, but she wasn't even having that. It became a problem with Alex and some major jealousy issues, and I was just getting really depressed, so we went to formula. I did go to a support group before I stopped and all it did was help me to come to terms with stopping. I am really happy I tried, and still a little bothered it didn't work out the way I had hoped, but like some said when I asked about it a long time ago, it was pretty inevitable that we went back to formula.
A happy, relaxed Mommy and a happy, fed baby are the most important things! Sorry it didn't work out the way you wanted, but I am sure you are much less stressed now that she is gaining weight.
Hope Alex becomes easier/less jealous. Does she enjoy helping you with Cori? There is a lot she can do (bring diapers, sing to her while she is being changed, help you with burping during feeding) I can already see things in Benjamin that lead me to believe he will not handle a sibling well when the time comes.
Thanks. I'm okay with the formula now.
Alex is a great big sister. She wants to help with everything, getting diapers and wipes, the pacifier or bottle, covering Cori with the blanket, washing and filling the bottles (supervised and re-cleaned by us of course). Now that I'm not spending all my time trying to get Cori to eat, she has been doing fantastic and only gets jealous at night when she wants to be the one to be cuddled, not Cori. Since I'm alone two nights a week, it's hard to cuddle both Alex and feed Cori, but we'll figure it out.
She calls Cori "my pink baby", and wants to know where she is any second she's out of sight.
