Help - finding out who to address cover letter to

This is probably a stupid question, my apologies.

I've found a job posting online that I'm extremely interested in and their preferred method of application is via email. The contact person listed is the office manager, but I'm not sure who to address the actual cover letter to. Would it be appropriate to contact the office manager to ask that question? Or should I just address it to her? TIA!!

Re: Help - finding out who to address cover letter to

  • I just submitted an application and I used the contact person's name, even though they probably don't do the interviewing. I figure they receive my email and weed through the applicants, so it's appropriate to address my letter to them.

  • Google the job title and company name together, or search Linked In.

    This.

Or I do To Whom it May Concern - in my experience they don't give out that informaiton online. Some even say "company confidential". It would depend on where I found it online and the particular add. In my field they tend not to even list the office.

  • Thanks everyone :) Google and LinkedIn don't turn up a hiring manager's name. I'm going to address it to Ms. Office Manager and submit today. Fingers crossed!!
