Are you bored on your lunch? Pick a house for us...
So I know this gives away what we're looking at here in MT, so I might edit later.
Which house would you pick if you had to buy one of these? They are the best 3 on the market right now that fit our criteria. We are trying to hold out on any offers until a the spring when listings pick-up again, but I also loathe renting and not feeling settled.
A. 3 bed, 2 bath Brick Bungalow - 2553 sq feet with 2+car garage, but smaller backyard
B. 5 bed, 2 bath, Ranch-a-palooza - 2900 sq feet with 1 car attached garage
What I really want is a lot on the edge of this neighborhood near the open space that constructs a weird house like this but I'm guessing time and available lots are against us right now.

I really, really like A. It has a lot of curb appeal and looks the most movein ready. I like B as a second choice too. I'm not in love with C, but that might be because of the headache of renovating and construction.
Oh, and if there were an A in Denver central at that price, I would totally be all over it.
We need to move to Montana.
I think we'll go look at A this weekend. It's actually overpriced by about $15k for the area, but either way, it would have been more like $280-$300k in our area of Denver, so yes, prices are better here. This summer a house right next to this one was listed for $275k, but a realtor told us that is sold for $215k.
Did you guys notice on the second kitchen picture in A that there are the realtors' coffee mugs on the table and in the bathroom picture with the shower that the paint and caulk are in the picture. I'm telling you...I'm shocked that realtors in MT make the same percentage as CO - it seems like CO realtors have to invest way more into marketing, pictures, etc.

All of these houses I listed are within a 1/2-mile of each other and A and C are located on tree-lined non-busy residential streets - B is also on a non-busy residential street, but behind it is a slight hill and then condos (about 10) below that, so not all single-family free-standing homes, but not low-income. Basically, that's why we don't have much inventory right now - we're only looking in about a 1.5 mile radius in one particular neighborhood and won't settle for the numerous houses for sale on major streets.

At least DH and I can agree on location even if we can't agree on house style right now.

These were my thoughts exactly. Although I would give all of the houses a chance - it seems like the pictures in general in MT totally suck so you never know what might be a real gem even though it looks like poo in the pictures. All it takes is your time to drive there and check it out.
Good luck! We are in kind of the same boat here right now. There is nothing on the market that we really like. We are hoping some more come on within the next few months or else we might be renting for another year.
