Re: New Years Resolutions- Clicky
Yes...most of mine are pretty typical, I think.
As of today, I weigh more than I ever have before, so my goal is now to lose 20 pounds. I've signed up for "myfitnesspal.com" to help me track my food and my exercise. I like that it automatically calculates my calories and other nutrition info...it's hard to deny that I'm eating crap when it's all laid out there for me. I'm also posting a photo on my fridge from Christmas...I hate how I look right now.
On a non-health note, I also want to pray more, so I've gotten a little book that has prayers and readings for each day of the month.
Those are my two big ones.

1) I too am the heaviest I've ever been, so I definitely want to work on that. I REALLY want to lose about 30 pounds to take me down to where I was when H and I started dating. I was super healthy and really confident...I really miss that, and tbh I think H does too lol. But what I really want to focus on is the healthy part of it, not the 30 lbs of it - which is different than previous years when I've made this goal for myself, which is why I think it hasn't worked for me. Annnyways, I started yesterday by ordering apple slices with my burger when we went out to get greasy hangover food haha.
2) I was really into playing music when I was in and just out of high school, and I haven't been regularly playing any instruments in a few years now. I keep making up excuses for myself, and now I'm really rusty (which adds to the excuses haha). So my goal for the new year is to start dusting off the old violin/flute/guitar/keyboard to practice at least twice a week, and bumping that up more and more.
3) Write more. Pretty simple - whether in my journal to myself, or working on the book I started four years ago, I need to write more
I think it's funny that people say they never do them.. i just don't believe that! I don't say, ok, in 2012 i resolve to do this.. but i say, starting now, i am going to try to do this. a new year just helps motivate!
either way- some of us posted them in a post below.. but i'm going to try to just appreciate what i have more. stop wanting and spending unnecessary money.. pay off debt, lose more weight, get pregnant.. or atleast try. read more!
I never really formally do resolutions...but I always kind of have goals/ideas of what I want to do in the new year.
My Goals:
--Like everyone, I am at my heighest weight ever...I totally let everything go after the wedding in July and have gained all the weight I've ever lost back...So, my goals this year are to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle, which should lead me back down the weightloss path.
--I need to aggressively pay off debt this year and save save save. We started working on paying off some of my CC last year and have 1 out of 5 paid off. I want to get those paid off in the next few months, which is doable.
--I want to have a formal teaching position by the end of the year....which probably for us, also will be in another state or even country.
--Lastly, I just want to be more organized and responsible about all aspects of my life, especially finances...
I guess that's it.
Purple, not sure where you live, but if you're accessible to the east side I play in an orchestra that always welcomes string players. I find I have much more justification to practice when there's a reason for it.
I like to do monthly goals instead of just year-long resolutions. I also make them easy to track. I keep a spreadsheet and mark which ones I do successfully. Then I can give myself mini rewards based on the number of check marks.
This month mine are:
Personal:
Wash face every am and pm
Floss every am and pm
Health:
Paleo eating
Under 100g carbs
Yoga, strength training, or cardio
Daily weigh-in
Home:
Daily clean (15 min)
Walk Link am and pm
I like your goals! I am terrible at the bolded one.
I need to get into working out again regularly. First it was because I was pregnant and got put on bed rest early on which just freaked me out from doing anything until the last month where I walked every single day to get LO moving!
I also want to stop frivolous spending. I already of my calendar white board all filled out with when I get paychecks and when bills are due and what my monthly savings goals are....lets hope I can stick to it!
I do have quite a few personal goals to work on.
- Taking better care of my skin... Wash my face every morning and night and exfoliate a few time per week.
- Start running again! I have a 1/2 marathon in June and need to catch back up
- Lose weight before my 30th birthday! It is now or never people...
- Learn to be more open with emotions/feelings. I tend to keep a lot bottled up and it is really starting to catch up with me!
- Get rid of our debt! Is is 90% surgery/health related but I want to get rid of it so we can actively save again.
- Keep fixing up and painting our house. I want to paint and have new floors b next year.
These are a of goals, but doable I think!
Oh wow, that would be really neat! It would depend on where/when. I'm over in Edmonds, but would be willing to travel, but it would depend on if I could make there around work.
I think that's a great idea! I'm a check list junkie haha, and the idea of breaking up the goals into attainable parts instead of overwhelming general goals seems like it would make them easier to succeed at.
My resolutions are pretty simple:
Eat a salad at least 3 times a week. I figure if I eat salad on a regular-ish basis, that will be taking the place of unhealthy foods I could be eating.
Get a job in Seattle. Commuting to Bellevue = suck-tastic

I don't usually make them or if I do, they're more nebulous as I think part of the reason people fail at resolutions is they make them too stringent and hard to achieve, fail slightly and then get discouraged and give up. This year though, I have some concrete goals, as well!
Save money so we can hopefully put money down to buy a house this year.
Keep the kitchen clean.
Floss every day.
