Gym/Exercise

What do you do for exercise?

My goal next week is to work out at least 2 times. I realize that's not a lot but I'm trying to ease myself back into it.

Re: Gym/Exercise

  • Right now nothing :) In the past I have taken classes at the gym, ran (outside), and gone to Bootcamp. I have tried at home workout DVDs but lose interest pretty quickly. I like a more social setting for working out.

  • In an ideal world? (This is actually what I did until December...)

    Sat: zumba/sometimes abs class after
    Sun: spin class or nothing
    Mon: zumba
Tues: bootcamp during lunch at work
    Wed: zumba
Thurs: bootcamp during lunch at work
    Fri: spin class or nothing

I start everything back up on 1/17 when we get back from the cruise. Until then...

  • I loooooooooove spin class and am looking forward to getting back to it once I have this cough under control. No one wants to be next to the crazy hacking girl. I totally fell off the bandwagon since our vacation in November, but I'm hoping that the Wii Fit keeps me somewhat accountable. My cousin is getting married in September, and I would really like to be out of the "overweight" category by then.

  • We have a gym at work (in the same building as my desk so I really have 0 excuses) so I'm going to start taking classes again. I was going on my lunch every day but it got old. I think I'm going to try Sunday - machines or run/walk outside on lunch. Wed- Spin before work and Fri either spin or zumba depending on what's going on that day. I'll try to work in some at home stuff on the other days.

I'm afraid I've already stalled on my weight loss since it's been about 3 weeks since I've really lost and I need to add in a little extra effort.

  • I usually just walk on the treadmill and do some arm exercises.  Nothing in the last 7 months or so though.  I am way too sedentary.  Once I have the baby and get the all clear, I might look into a spinning class.  I know a lot of people like it, so I want to check it out.

We did not renew our gym membership this month.  I guess we'll revisit it around April or May.

  • Nothing right now, but I really want to lose the last few pounds of baby weight. I just bought a Dancing With the Stars latin dancing workout dvd, but haven't opened it yet.

Im so jealous! I WISH I had a gym at work. When I worked for a law firm in Miami, they had a gym and we were given a 1 hour lunch break and 2 15 minute breaks. I would work out for 45 minutes 4 days a week and eat snacks twice a day and I sooooo miss having that option.

Ive tried walking at a park nearby work (which sucks in the summer), but now that I have switched branches, I dont have that accessible anymore.

Now I will get up at 5:30 - 2 to 3 times a week (its usually 2) and go to the clubhouse gym and work out for 30 mins, but thats been really not getting me anywhere. I REALLY need to step it up.

  • I'm doing ballet class twice a week and Strike Zone (a martial arts/kickboxing class on crack) once a week.

But I haven't been doing this through the holidays at all, this will start next week.

  • I was running 5 days a week, now I've scaled that back to 3 days a week. I've also started doing New Rules of Lifting for Women again. I did it before, loosely, & got to Stage 3. I was pleased with the results I saw despite only doing it loosely. Hopefully taking it more seriously will bring even better results.

  • I am currently active in "Abstract Bodyworks" it is strength training twice a week for no more than 15 minutes. I love it because it makes me feel empowered and givves me the push to do some cardio. I either get on an elliptical, attend a Zumba/Turbo Kick/Pilates class or just do a video.

That being said, I had to change how I see working out. I started to plan my days around my workout routine because in my nature, working out would be the first thing to be left to "another day" if I got busy. Then, if I get into a small argument with my dear husband or I am stressed at work, I make it a case to workout...it clears my mind. Also, I just bring my workout clothing to my job and change right before leaving to the house so I have NO excuse on staying home.

By the way, any one in the Gainesville, FL area interested in meeting to work out?

     Good luck!!!
