toddler vitamins

does you LO take one?  can you recommend it?  for the past 6+ months DD has been a really picky eater all of a sudden.  most days i can get her to eat only one really well balanced meal. she does drink pediasure so i know she gets vitamins from that.  she has however had 3 back to back colds so far this winter and at this point my pedi and i agree she might benefit from a multi.  so we have tried a few and she "doesn't get it."  the thing is most of the age appropriate ones are gummy.  she has tried 3 kinds.  she really isnt into fruit snacks, or anything gummy at this point- so unless they are very soft she wont eat it.  anyway, does your kid take one?  if so which one?  help please.

Re: toddler vitamins

  • Are Enfamil ones out for her age?  If not, I have a $5 check you can have so it will only be $3or so

  • We give A gummy ones that are called YummiBears.  They are pretty soft and they also make a chewable one if that would work for S.   I got them at the pharmacy, but I am sure they are sold other places.

  • Our pedi suggested I switch Aiden to a toddler vitamin as well. I had gotten a sample of gummy ones, Cars themed. Hoping he would like it. He chewed and then spit it out. I'm still giving him the liquid one that we started around 8 months. Pedi didn't have a problem with it. A is really weird with textures so I'll stick with this for now. He takes it no problem!

  • Connor takes the gummy Cars ones, Paige takes the gummy DIsney Princess vitamins. LOL

I usually wait til RIte Aid offers sales on vitamins etc

they love taking vitamins, and often remind me when I've forgotten to give them

  • At her last appt, the dr took blood and told us that she was anemic so she's on an iron plus multi vitamin supplement. (it's a liquid).

Her dentist told me not to give her the gummy ones....

  • I'm pretty sure Flinstones makes a chewable for toddlers that is not gummy.

Mini takes vitamins by prescription from her dentist because our water isn't fluoridated. Those aren't gummy either, they're a grape chewable.

  • A still takes the flouride liquid prescription vitamins that shes been taking since she was 6 mos old. She actually likes them and takes them with no problem so our Pedi told us to just keep her on them. She said she can switch her to a better tasting prescription chewable once she starts rejecting the liquid.

  • K has always refused the liquid ones (i usually get them spit at me), so A and I take gummy flintstones (mostly because I can't tolerate the prenatals) so she usually gets one of those which was ok by her doctor.  In fant, she's pretty pissed now because we bought adult gummies by mistake and she can't have them.  They aren't great for her teeth so most dentists wont recommend it, but I can tell you she will spit those chewable ones out at me too.

ditto this.  I also didn't want A getting used to the gummy vitamins in case we needed to switch so I never gave them to him to start with.  I bought a children's chewable multi vitamin from BJ's (flinstone type).  He used to get half of one but now he gets the entire thing.

  • thanks ladies.

i have been giving her the baby one recently (generic for the enfamil) but it is gross, vitamin smell and taste so she will only take it if i put it in juice and she rarely has juice.  (still a milkaholic.)  i guess i can give her juice more so she can have it.  the doctor said its fine to give her liquid vitamins as long as she has the right amounts.  so i will call him and see what he says about the dose.  i've never heard no to the gummy from our dentist, but it does make sense.

nikos, nic40- what kind of liquid ones do you give them?

  • we give her the RX from her pedi (same one she had since 6m). its the polyvitamin drops... I think rugby?).  we used to give her the polyvitamin plus flouride, now shes on the poly plus iron and she gets a flouride chewable at night.

we put the drops in juice or applesauce.

Same here (without the floride). I usually give it to him before bed then brush his teeth. He takes it no problem. I told him its his vitamin and he calls it that!  He won't drink juice so it's important to me that he does this. I'll stick with the liquid as long as possible.
