Does Italian Food really induce labor??
I should hang my head in shame for even asking this as it is probably an old wives tale....
But it is my birthday and my DH is talking about taking me out for Italian food (he doesn't know the wives tale) tonight to celebrate.
I'm hoping these babies will stay put as long as possible and definitely don't want to self induce! We are shooting for between 36-38 weeks....we joke (mostly...) that it would be ideal if they came on 1/20 because DH will get 9 days off instead of just 7 :-P ETA: 38 weeks is term for twins
Re: Does Italian Food really induce labor??
I have never heard that italian food does - I've heard that spicy food can.

Nor had I (heard this)......until I was talking to my aunt and she told me not to go out for Italian tonight (but really, she might have been teasing me). I guess they blame it on the spices (basil, oregano) even though it isn't exactly "spicy" per say (in the Mexican/salsa kinda way).
Meh, I'm kinda thinking mostly an old wive's tale..... When the babies are ready to come, they will Italian food or not....haha
Both my kiddos were almost 2 weeks past their due date despite all my efforts. I am a firm believer that kids come when they want to come and that is that.
Don't get eggplant parmagiana.
12 hours after a Pasquini's Pig Out, my water broke at 37 weeks.
(If you do go that route, do NOT get extra garlic like I did, just in case. It revisited me during labor.)

Haha, yeah I'm avoiding extra garlic for sure.....between upper and lower GI issues due to pregnancy as it is, I do NOT need extra garlic.
According to the Saucy Noodle on University in Bonnie Brae, their food has been "known" to induce labor. They actually have a couple of articles on the walls about it. DH and I just went there on Monday night and I totally forgot that they make this claim about their food when we first walked in. It was not the reason we went (but I think the staff thought that's why we were there). But I can report at 36 weeks that it did not induce labor (thank God as I'm not ready!).
Although I have also heard the OWT about some rustic eggplant parm dish recipe that is supposed to have a good track record as well.
Good luck with whatever works for you!!
