What is your fav couples only all inclusive?

We've been to Excellence Mujeres but are looking for other suggestions for our trip in November.   If budget isn't an issue where would you go back to or visit?   Thanks!

Re: What is your fav couples only all inclusive?

  • We went to Cancun last year for our anniv. and stayed at El Dorado Royale.

Very quiet and romantic. Ask for a suite. It has an outdoor pool to yourself, top notch liquor, an outdoor shower, huge bathtub and wonderful massages.

  • thanks, did El Dorado have a nightlife?  We do prefer that we have a show or something to go to at night if we're at the pool all day.

The Couples chain is my favorite (particularly Couples Swept Away and Couples Negril).

I believe El Dorado resorts are adults only, not couples only.  If you are ok with adults only, I'd also recommend Secrets Maroma Beach, Le Blanc and the Royal resorts in Mexico (Royal Cancun and Royal Playa Del Carmen).  For Couples only, I think the only choices are Couples resorts and Sandals resorts.

  • I want to try Secrets Maroma next time. We have also stayed at excellence PM, the Royal Playa del Carmen and loved them.

  • We loved Couples Swept Away and I saw they were recently ranked pretty highly in a Travel + Leisure magazine list of best resorts.  The staff was super friendly and the beach is very nice.  The food was good and the drinks were plentiful.  There were a number included activities such as SCUBA, snorkeling (although there's not much to see as the coral is badly damaged), catamaran cruise, etc.
  • Iberostar Grand Bavaro in P unta Cana, DR.  #1 resort in PC on trip adviser.
  • We loved El Dorado Seaside Suites...it's not a huge resort, but we found there was still plenty to do. We met so many great people while we were there, and they usually had a band or DJ at night. The food was amazing, too. I would love to go back someday!
  • We loved the Royal Cancun. Pics and review in link above my siggy pic.

We've also been to three different Sandals resorts which we also love. Hands down, Royal wins though.

this is our next "relaxing" vacation spot to try (SIL HMed there in 09 and my ILs went in 10 and both rave about it).

We HMed at Secrets Maroma and loved that as well.

  • We stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana. We had a terrible time since it stormed every single day of our trip but that has nothing to do with the hotel which I thought was really nice and perfect for a relaxing, tropical vacation. We stayed in the club level suites.

They had a nightlife. We did a tequila tasting and then had dinner on the beach. The resort is adult only as well.
