Churches

Hey all!

I'm looking for a new church to attend locally.  We had been going to a catholic church but had a terrible experience Christmas Eve (and I'm not that fond of Catholic churches to begin with even though it's my husband's preference)

I have always wanted to attend a Southern Baptist style church...you know, like you see in the movies.  Singing and dancing, real enthusiastic sermons that give you goosebumps and really set in.  Any recommendations?  Particularly in the Douglas county area...Parker/Castle Rock/Lone Tree, etc.

Thanks!

Re: Churches

  • We attend Living Way Fellowship.  It's a Foursquare Church, not Baptist.  Lots of singing and wonderful sermons!!!  We also have a great childrens program.  Its located in Highlands Ranch on Broadway and Wildcat Reserve Parkway.  Check out the website!  www.livingwayfellowship.org

  • I just want to confess that my first thought when I read the post title was fried chicken.

I don't have any recs but I hope you are finding what you are looking for. Church shopping is so difficult but makes such a difference once you find the right place and can really get what you need. good luck!

This is where I go, it is a loving community, but way out of your way. We have many people who come from all the metro area.

  • Just out of curiosity, did you attend the 4pm Christmas Eve service at St. Francis in Castle Rock?  If you are, I can relate.  DH and I were quite ticked and not feeling very Christian-like after that debacle.  Not exactly the way you want to feel on Christmas Eve.

I have never attended The Rock in Castle Rock but I have a good friend that left our church during a really rough period in her life (she didn't feel like she was getting what she needed from the Catholic church at the time) and she absolutely fell in love with The Rock and all that it offers.

  • Yes!  That's the one!  I think my blood pressure went through the roof and at one point we were all crying in the car (well, except my husband).  It was awful.

  • We go to Southeast Christian in Parker (at Jordan and Lincoln-ish).  I posted a VERY similar post a few years ago (only without the bad experience part) and someone pointed me toward this church.  We've been attending ever since.

The music is completely amazing.  It's sort of a big, mega-church but not off-putting to me.  I love Southern Baptist style churches and this one is perfect for me.  Feel free to ask any specific questions.  I know how important it is to find a good church.

This was our church before we moved to Omaha.  We loved it there and would definitely recommend it if you like big churches.
