When did you.....

...discover your first grey hair?

Gah, I found a whole friggen bunch this morning. I found my first one this past April and hadn't worried about it since. At the time I was 26 and figured I'd be finding a few here and there, but I wasn't expecting Grandma Moses like I found this morning. And then I tell Danny, "Look at all the MF-ing grey hairs I have!!!!!!!"

He replies, "Oh, yeah, I noticed that awhile ago. I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want you to freak out." Indifferent REALLY?

Then he decided it would be fun to pick on me. It made me feel a little better because at least I know he doesn't care that I'm getting grey hair (small self-esteem boost). But now, I'll be freaking out about my hair.

So, when did you notice yours? I figured I'd have at least until 30, maybe 35, but 27 and that many.....ugh.

Re: When did you.....

  • Earlier this year. Ugh.

My mom got her first when she was 18, though, so I guess I lucked out getting to wait all the way until 24. :p

  • I have no idea when my mom got her first one, but my dad was silver haired by the time he was 30, so that's where my initial bench mark came from. We joke that it was my sister being born that did him in.....I have no excuse. Stick out tongue

  • I was 23/24...it was my first year or law school and my first year living with a boy. I was stressed to the max. I only have a few though; a couple pop up each year. oh well, that what hair dye is for

  • Fun fact: when I was in 10th grade I discovered a grey (i call it silver) streak in my hair. I think it's from a concussion I got the year before. So every time I get my hair cut they mention it like I've never seen it before. Other than that I don't have any others.
  • I think I was around 22.

I have lots now...like to the point where I have to constantly dye my hair to hide them. They've gotten a lot worse in the past year!

I don't really mind them though...I think one day when I'm older (like 50's) I'll rock the white/gray look. I think it's cool:)

I like that. Being so young still, they bother me a little, but I've always thought once I got older I'd rock the grey hair. Right now though, me no likey....

The bolded: I'm pretty sure that's where all of mine are coming from. I've been having really bad anxiety lately (like to the point where I'll be driving and having daydreams of crashing the car....or I leave the house and all day think about it burning down.) I've made an appointment to talk to someone, but the stress still sucks.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • I haven't yet, thank God. I'm sure there are some there, but you can't see them because my hair is light colored.

  • I was a senior in high school, so 17. I have little patches of them in my bang/forehead area.  I dyed my hair over the summer to cover them but I haven't since because I feel like I'm too young to be a slave to dying it already!  I think they show up more because my hair is naturally very dark brown, almost black.  I secretly love the way it looks when it is a full head of hair like the picture Rach posted.
  • I think I was 22 I think... they've become more and more noticeable as the years go on, especially when I pull my hair back into a ponytails.  Thank the gods for hair color!

  • No clue.  I'm sure I have some, but my hair is like medium-ish brown so I don't really notice them.  If I have them.

  • About a year and a half ago (25).  Since then I have had four. Including the one that graced me with its presence this morning.  It has been relinquished to the garbage can.

  • I would say about 21-22. My father turned completly grey at 25, it runs in his side of the family, they have a full head of hair but its completely gray at a young age.

I get my hair highlighted to cover them, but the up keep is killing me, and I have more and more every time I look.

  • I was about 12.

At that age, I discovered I have a streak of silver hair that's about 3/4 inch wide.  A dermatologist once told me I probably don't have any pigmentation in that spot, and I wouldn't have noticed it when I was so young because my hair was so light blonde at the time.  You also couldn't see it unless I parted my hair a certain way.  I haven't seen it in years though because my hair is highlighted and lowlighted.  I only color it twice a year however and haven't seen new grays in my roots yet, but I don't really look that closely so maybe some are lurking.
