Can someone recommend a divorce lawyer

Not for me!

My parents have been divorced for 14 years and my mom has been getting a fairly large amount of alimony for this entire time. My dad, who just turned 60, has hired a lawyer to revisit their agreement because he is unable to save for retirement with the amount he gives her. She has done nothing to better herself in the past 14 years and has been living off her alimony along with working a part time job at JoAnne Fabrics. She has not saved nor has she tried to get a better job. She says she doesn't have to because he funds her lifestyle.

I don't disagree with my dad wanting to change their agreement. I do feel like he got "screwed" in the deal but she needs a lawyer and has no idea where to start finding one aside from looking in the phone book. I know it's a long shot but does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Can someone recommend a divorce lawyer

  • Sending you a pm.
  • I'm fond of Randy Corporon and Dane Torbenson. They work at the same firm in Denver. Neither are my personal attorney but they do great work. They aren't cheap though they are good for mens rights.
  • Eesh.  I'd hand her a phone book and wish her the best.  Probably best to stay out of that one.

Sorry though... I agree it does sound like an adjustment should be made.

Tell me about it.  Thanks ladies.

  • Oh, snap. I totally read that as HE needs a lawyer. Sorry. My recommendation might not be the best then. lol. I doubt she wants a guy who focuses on mens rights...
  • She can also check out CU and DU student law clinics, that might provide her free legal help. I'm a law student but I don't have experience with the clinics yet.    I do have a friend who did her divorce through a clinic and came off very well afterwards.   The students are supervised by a practicing attorney and from my understanding generally do a good job.
