Because aliens are actually demons

So, I normally wake up at least once every night, get up. go to the bathroom and fall right back to sleep. I don't always wake up at the same time, but I have noticed that when I wake up at 3:30, I am not able to go back to sleep (that's why I'm up at 5 am on a freaking Sunday).

A coworker mentioned to me that in Chinese medicine they believe the time you wake up is connected to some part of your body. E.g., if you wake up at 2 am, your pancreas is trying to tell you something. So, I did a quick Google search to see what the Chinese think about my waking habits. I didn't find anything from them, but I did find this: ALIENS.

  • Other potential reasons I'm waking up at 3:30 am

It is best for psychic communication

My body fat percentage is too low (I'm SURE that's it)

OMG does this make me a wierdo?

  • I wish I remembered the source, but I read an article semi recently that said the ideal sleep pattern is not actually 8 hrs of uninterrupted sleep, but 4 hrs, a brief awake period, then 4 more hours of sleep. There was a bunch of stuff in there about how other cultures used this time for quiet reflection or sex. And in modern times, most people do wake up naturally after about 4 hrs, but many then worry about it, start stressing, and have trouble going back to sleep.  It was nytimes or CNN, not some whacko article.

Okay, reading those message boards truly freaked me out! What a bunch of nutters.

  • LOL I wake up every night too, but I either don't usually look at the clock or I forget what time I woke up since I go right back to sleep. I will have to pay attention to this and google it!

  • I always take note of the time because I like to know how much longer I get to sleep.

PP, thanks for the non-alien link It was an interesting read. I'll have to start keeping track of when I got to sleep to see if I wake up 3-5 hours later.

  • I deliberately avoid looking at the time because it just stresses me out. I just glance at the window and see if it's getting light out or not. If it's still dark, I go back to sleep. If it's light, then I'll usually check because that means my alarm is going to go off soon anyway.
