**ESD, Muddled, Pedantic**

I just saw your post in the Pedantic post Thanks ladies.

Right now it looks like our only option is casting, which means he'll be in a series of at least 4 casts over the next year. Then possibly a brace. This is all with the hope of either putting off surgery until he's an adolescent or putting it off entirely.

The doc we're seeing is highly respected the world over and my former boss respects him immensely. I'm pretty sure we're in good hands. We meet him on the 23rd.

One piece of good news from this week: I may have an interview next week, a company asked my staffing agency about me.

  • I know Betty, he's had a tough year and he's not even one yet! He's still so happy and giggly, it amazes me how much he's been able to put up with.

Thanks for the job dust! I need it more than you know.

  • Big ehugs s&h. Sorry the little guy is having such a hard time.
  • poor little guy...

ugh i feel so sorry for him...AND you!

  • Thanks you guys. It's going to be difficult to handle, they have to put him under anesthesia to put him in the cast (if that's the route we take, given his curve progression it's our only option right now) so he'll probably have to stay overnight each time they change his cast. We've got a lot of questions so we'll see what the doc says when we meet him.

He's young enough that he won't even remember it thankfully.

  • I have a feeling this may be harder on you than it is on your little wigglet, if only because you will remember it and he won't.

If the casts work, how long does it last? Is it a forever thing? Good until he's an adult? Totally unknown? I know nothing about this.

    I'll be thinking about you.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • Ugh that really sucks. I feel so bad for you all!

Good luck with the job. You could really use some good news!

  • Muddled, the casts would be on for about a year or until his curve is below 10 degrees. The hope is that the casts will fix his curve forever or at least put off surgery until he's an adolescent. He won't remember any of it, but looking over the cast care stuff and the support stuff is a little overwhelming. My baby's going to have to wear depends along with his diaper.

ESD, thanks. A lot of crap has come down on us all at once, so we're sort of on hold until we see the doctor.

  • You do need some good news.

I know you can handle this, but we're here anytime you need to vent.

  • Thanks Muddled :-)
