The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (movie)

Anyone else see it? It was good, but disturbing seeing some that stuff on the big screen. DH actually liked it too, which says a lot. I think he was worried it would be a chick flick. The theater was packed and there were tons of elderly people there. I can't imagined they enjoyed watching some of that stuff. I haven't heard if they will continue w/ the other books, but I hope so. The girl playing Lisabeth fit the part perfectly.

ETA: I have read the books and it followed it relatively well I thought.

Re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (movie)

  • Well the ending was totally different from the book but they didn't substantively change how things went up to that point and it didn't ultimately change the story line, so I was ok with it.  I thought it was brilliantly done. Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara were amazing in those roles.   I liked it much better than the Swedish version (but possibly because it was easier to watch since I didn't have to read subtitles). I very much want to go back to see it again.
  • Thanks for the review.  It's on my list... which probably means I'll catch it on video later...

  • I might have to re-read the books. I can't seem to remember everything. I also loved Daniel Craig. He's on my list for sure. I really liked seeing him more vulnerable in this movie rather than the typical Bond. There was something about his admitting his head hurt and watching him actually be scared...

Sent you a PM to avoid a spoiler.

  • I thought it was awesome. Rooney Mara was incredible and Daniel Craig wasn't bad either. I thought it was graphic but the book is really graphic so I was prepared.
  • I was actually really disappointed with the movie. I thought it could've been more suspenseful, smarter and a tad more modern. I'm not sure if modern is the right word, but it just felt a little off being that Lisbeth's a hacker and all. I don't want to spoil anything but I also didnt like how they revealed Harriet. My expectations of movies of books aren't very high, but I certainly had higher hopes for this one. I really hope the Hunger Games turn out.

This was what I meant by the "end of the movie" which wasn't really the end, now that I think about it. Was not happy at all that they changed it.

  • I really enjoyed it and have not read the books yet but have all three from a friend and hope to start them soon.  A major fail for me was that I had no idea the content, some R movies aren't like that at all and I took my 13yo. :/  We had a good talk about the movie after though and she and I didn't like the end at all.
