In honor (?) of Monday and the workweek ... what's your weekday morning routine?
Re: QOTD Monday
Can I confess that I actually miss my old, longer commute? It was another half-hour chance to read. Yep, I'm crazy--but it also felt a lot more laid back.
Alarm goes off at 5:30am, snooze for at least 10 minutes, hop in the shower, back in bed with a towel on my head to help dry my hair until 6:30, get back up, finish getting dressed and ready until about 6:50. If I decide to skip washing my hair that day I stay in bed until 6:20.
Make breakfast and coffee, pack my lunch while eating breakfast. If I'm driving that week I try to get out the door by 7:15-7:20, pick up coworker, drive to work to arrive for 8:00. If he's driving that week I usually watch the news or read until he gets there, usually closer to 7:30.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I usually shower after my workout at night, so I don't have much to do in the morning. Up at 8, get ready til about 8:30, walk to the subway (4 mins) or get a ride in from H, sitting at my desk by 9. (I eat my protein bar and have my coffee when I get into the office.)
I would really like to shift all of this routine about an hour earlier so I'm getting to work more around 8 but I can kind of set my own hours within reason, so it is tough to get motivated to arrive at 8 when I can really show up whenever I want.
Up at 4 and into workout clothes. M-W-F is spin from 5:15 to 6:30; Tu-Th is boot camp 5:30 to 6:30. Fix protein shake and breakfast, pack lunch. Out the door 4:45 - 5 to the Y. Shower and dress after class; at my desk around 7. DH rides his bike to work, so he's out the door by 5.
I have 2. One for M,W,F & on for T/Th.
M/W/F - Up at 6:00. If the boys are still sleeping (DH or my mother will get them up when they wake), I hit the shower, get ready, make lunch and leave at 6:30. I eat breakfast at my desk.
T/Thur - Up at 5:30, hit the shower, get ready. Wake the boys up at 6:00, feed & dress them, and out the door by 6:50 - 7:00. Drop boys off at daycare, at work by 7:30-7:45 and eat breakfast at my desk.
I don't have a standard morning routine since my shifts vary between starting at 7am, 7:30am, 8am, 9am or 12pm. Also, my 8am shifts vary between either being at my close big hospital (15 minute commute) or the smaller farther away hospital (45 minute commute).
Alarm goes off at 5:00am, I take my temp, then I normally lay there for a few minutes and try to will myself out of bed. Bailey normally starts being a huge brat and does stuff to try to make me get up like chew on the trash can liner, scratch the side of the bed, bat things of my night stand, walk all over my head, etc. until I get annoyed with her and get up.
Then I pee with her yowling at me none stop because she thinks she starving to death. I then feed her and make sure the coffee pot is brewing. I get in the shower about 5:15, then I do my makeup and brush out my wet hair.
Then I go downstairs and have a cup of coffee and watch the news for about 15 -20 mins while my hair air dries at little bit. At 6:15 I bring Jason a cup of coffee to wake him up. Then I blow dry and style my hair, get dressed, pack my lunch and breakfast then hit the road by 7:00am.
Alarm goes off at 6:30, I temp and then snooze until about 7am. Get up and shower. Dry off, grab a glass of juice and check emails, update my chart, etc. before picking out my clothes for the day. Then I dry my hair and do my makeup before getting dressed.
I try to get out the door by 8am, but it's been slipping 10-15 min recently because I've been trying to eat breakfast at home. If I eat, I'll just grab a bowl of cereal or something and eat that while doing my hair / makeup.
Once I leave our flat, I have a 5 minute walk to the tube stop, then about 35 minutes on the tube with one transfer. My office building is attached to the tube station at the other end, so I don't have to go back outside. I aim to get in by 9, and that is usually dependent on the tube schedule.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
I'm glad Rex isn't the only cat that does this.
This is what happens on a good day. I set the alarm for 6:45, take my temp and then hit snooze 9 million times. I finally drag my butt out of bed and into the shower around 7:30. Get dressed, grab my lunch and head out the door by 8:00. Jim drives me to the Metro, getting there about 8:20, and I ride 30 minutes in to downtown. Walk two blocks to my office, stopping for a Subway english muffin melt and diet coke and at work at 9:00.

We set the alarm for 6:10 and snooze once. I wake up to shower while DH sleeps in a bit. Once I get out of the shower, he wakes up to feed Olivia and change her. I get dressed and ready then I turn on the coffee, put our lunches in our lunch bags, let the dog out, refill her water and food, let her in and lock the back door.
On Mondays I also grab Olivia's diaper bag and an extra bag with everything she needs for the week. I take everything to the car before DH gets in the shower. Then I take Olivia to the car and off we go. We're usually out of the house by 7:30.
This is all going to change starting tomorrow but we haven't discussed how to go about things since DH will probably be leaving early to his new job. I have a feeling I'll have to do more by myself or we'll have to wake up earlier.
7:45: Wake up, hit snooze a few times
8:00: Eat something, watch the news
8:15: start getting ready (make up, hair, get dressed)
9:00: Leave for work. I'm there by 9:45 with time to get settled in and ready for the day.
ETA: I'm very jealous of the ladies that have the option to take the metro to work. They don't have anything like that in Orlando other than the bus, which would actually add about two hours to the commute.
Ha. Cheddar follows DH into the bathroom, meowing the whole time. It's their morning pee dude bonding time together. Annoys DH to no end, but I think it's hilarious.
What my routine should be and what it is, are completely different! I'm so checked out of my current job.
Lately - Alarm goes off about 6:30 - and I snuggle into DH for more sleep and hit snooze a few times.
DH finally gets out of bed and hops in the shower - then leaves it running for me.
Throw on some clothes, do makeup and blow dry my hair and catch my bus at either 7:45 or 8.
Both get me to work later than I'm supposed to, but I don't care.
I'm with Kari. I've officially given up at this job. I usually leave about the time I should be at work, which puts me here an hour late. The best part is that no one here seems to care.
My alarm goes off at 7 (should be 630). I used to pump for 15 minutes, but now I get Jackson and either feed him or get him ready for the day. It depends if he's trying to gnaw on my hands or not.
DH gets up around the same time and gets dressed, then lets the dogs out and feeds them for the day. I pack up my lunch and Jackson's bags if DH doesn't get to them first.
Sometime around 7:30-8:00, we're all out the door. I have to drop Jackson off at daycare, and DH and I both have about a 30-40 minute commute. The sad part is we live less than 20 miles away from our jobs. I freakin hate traffic.
