What would you bring?

One of my bf's just had a baby (her first) last Tuesday. I'm going over at some point this week and am not sure what to bring. Normally, I would bring a home-cooked meal and offer to do something while I'm there. However, given my current circumstance and the fact that I am not cooking or cleaning at my own house (haha), I'm at a loss.

FWIW, her husband is also on leave for 6 weeks and they have a ton of friends/family in the area that I'm sure are taking good care of them.

So, June '08, what would YOU bring? :)

Re: What would you bring?

  • I would bring a dessert. We got lots of pasta dishes from family, but something sweet sounds really good.
  • Gift card for some pizza?

  • Pick up some fruit, cheese, crackers, bread. Fresh yummy easy to eat quick foods. Maybe some dessert too (cupcakes!). Or just a GC to a good take out / delivery place.

These were my thoughts exactly.  Maybe even some sort of a fruit salad type thing?  Something that would be easy for them to eat whenever they wanted & little work for you if you can find something mostly premade/precut at the store?

Me too! I got an edible arrangement and I lived off that thing the first couple days. The little snacky stuff was perfect when he was cluster feeding in the evenings!

  • I'm a little late to the game, but when Julia was born someone brought us some breakfast stuff which was great. Several people brought us dinners and I could easily eat the leftovers for lunch, but I didn't have much for breakfast. Things like muffins, bagels, cream cheese, etc. were a lifesaver for me. I'm sure whatever you bring they will appreciate! :)

  • Someone brought me a snack basket and I loved it! Just mini bags of pretzels, m&ms, candy bars, chips, and maybe some fruit? It was great being able to have snacks for us and company. I know I've seen candy bouquets at Kroger before. Or if you wanted to hand pick special snacks it would still be easy and fairly cheap to throw together.

I think I'm going to do a combo of this and breakfast. I remember never feeling like I had time to really sit down and eat so things like this would be great on-the-go!

    Thanks ladies!
