I decided to give charting a try since coming off BCP. I would go over to GP with these questions but I don't need to get on the baby bandwagon.
The past 3 days I've taken my temp as directed. The past 2 days it's been low, around 96 degrees. Do you think this is because it's cold (it's been in the 30's & 40's at night) and I'm kind of cold when I take the temp?
I take my temp the first time the alarm goes off and I don't go back to check it until after I've been awake for a little while. I don't think that should matter though.

Re: Charting Question
It has been a while since I charted but from what I remember the temp in your room can affect your temp in the AM. Are you using fertility friend to chart? I would take my temp when the alarm went off and then checked it sometime later as well since my BBT stored the previous temp until the next time you turned it on.
I know that from temping my "normal" body temperature as never 98.6 it was always lower, somewhere around 97-something.
Is reading TCOYF better or doing the FF email tutorials?
This is a good question. I have TCOYF and I need to read through it again.
I agree with this.
My pre-o temps are typically in the 96.7-97.1 range. But this would vary person to person. If your pre-o temps are in the low 97's, and now you're getting a couple random 96's, I think it could be related to the coldness of room. I wouldn't really worry about it. It's the big jump you're looking for anyway.
My Ovulation Chart
I definitely agree with this. Lots of interesting info in TCOYF.
A cold room could make your temp go down a little bit, but in the grand scheme of things you'll definitely see the shift after you ovulate.
I also agree with the fact that it could take a while for your body to regulate after coming off BCPs. Your temps might be all over the place for a while. It took me almost a year to ovulate when I stopped BCPs (after almost 15 years of taking them), and even then it was only with the help of clomid. So frustrating.
Thanks for the insight, everyone. I'm interested to see what will happen over the next few cycles. I've been on BCP for almost 11 years so I have no idea what my body will do on its own.
We might start TTC next year sometime and I like the idea of having a grasp on how my body works before then.
Mine as really low before ovulating too. Are you using a basal body thermometor?
I'd read TCOYF, it was really helpful.
I am using a BBT and I'm going to dig out my copy of TCOYF again soon.
Thanks again!
