Make ahead appetizer recipes, anyone?
my best friend's baby shower is this weekend and I need to take two appetizers. I'm making a dip with crackers and am in search of something else that's heavy but i can make ahead so I'm not under the hostess's feet in the kitchen. Any suggestions?
Re: Make ahead appetizer recipes, anyone?
Would it have to be something cold or could you reheat it there?
Or how about doing something like meatballs in a crock pot? That way you could just plug it in in a corner away from where she is working?
Cocktail meatballs? You can keep them warm in a crockpot easily. These chicken enchilada roll-ups http://annies-eats.com/2010/02/04/chicken-enchilada-roll-ups/
These ham and gruyere sliders. You can assemble ahead and just pop them in the oven for a couple minutes when you get there. http://annies-eats.com/2010/07/13/ham-and-cheese-sliders/

If you can heat something up, baked potato skins are good with bacon, cheese, green onion, and a sour cream dipping sauce.
Otherwise, I'd do something in the crockpot, like the Jack Daniels meatballs Angie posted and that I'm still dying to make.
Now I want potato skins.
Hull out the insides of the tomatoes, mix cream cheese, sour cream and ranch dry mix and stuff inside. Chop up some scallions and chives and sprinkle on top. Done.
For less then ten cents a day, you can feed a hungry child.
I can attest to the deliciousness of these.

That recipe looks so good it might replace the dip i was already going to make, Bethie. Mine is more involved and i've already had it twice over the holidays.
Are peppadew peppers easy to find? i've never heard of them
