How's the med center?

Specifically Fannin and 610?  (Women's Hospital area)  I have an doc appt today, but if it's flooded, I don't really want to take DD out in it.  :-/

Re: How's the med center?

  • I work right there and have to go out for lunch.  I'll head out now and if i can post from my droid I'll let you know what it's like.

It rained about 4 inches (according to transtar) during the late morning.  But it's not raining anymore so I'm hoping it has cleared up and there is no flooding.

  • Us too. We need to get to TCH to see Walker and 288 is looking like a nogo for us. So 610 and Fannin is the next option

  • I would check 610 and Fannin on Transtar for high water warnings.  I just got back.  I didn't go down to the freeway (went to Subway which is in the big shopping lot that borders OST and Kirby before they intersect (Fiesta).  The streets between Fannin/Kirby/OST are passable without much standing water but there are patches where the gutters are slow to drain so the water is up to the curb and low points of the road where water has pooled.

If I were coming RIGHT NOW I'd feel fine.  If the weather is supposed to keep pouring it could stay fine or get worse - hard to tell.

Our shuttle is running from our building (near Fannin/Greenbriar/OST) and the Med Center hospital location.  The driver said it is kind of crazy because of stalled cars from earlier this morning even though it has cleared up.  We got a TMC update that the basement flood doors were closing in certain locations as part of our flood preparedness procedures but the surface streets entrances are all fine.

ETA:  If you live close by and you are trying to head in, I wouldn't have any worries.  If you have to make a trip and are depending on freeways, I don't know if today is the day I'd come.  You might want to reschedule if it's a well check.

  • I think I'm going to call and see if I can reschedule.  The easiest way to get there is by 288 for me, but that is a hot mess right now (DH is stuck in that area right now).  It would take me twice as long to get there otherwise.  I am guessing earlier appts are probably late b/c of the weather, anyway, so hopefully they won't mind a cancellation.  I'll talk to them and see what they say.  I wouldnt' care if it was just me, but I don't really want to get stuck in traffic/flooding with a 6 week old baby in the back. (DH has been stuck in one spot for about an hour).

ETA:  Talked to them and I rescheduled for next week. Less stress for me today! She did say ppl were running really late, but she didn't have many cancellations.
