Heather

Quick question.......Are you taking baby aspirin for you IVF?  Was it rec'ed by your RE?

I might be grasping at straws here but I read taking baby aspirin might help to rebuild my uterine lining after my miscarriage since it would increase blood flow.  I should probably check with my Dr. to see if this is something he would recommend but he is out for 6-8 weeks due to a back injury.  And his NP is a effin idiot.

Well, actually I decided to leave that practice (for many reasons) and I don't have an appointment with my new doctor until mid Feb.

Anyway, I am thinking of adding it to all the other pills I take on a daily basis.  I would imagine it wouldn't hurt but I don't know how effective it would be.....

Re: Heather

  • It's not part of my protocol - and I don't see it added all that often to IVF protocols.  I have a friend that was having recurrent m/c's and after the third they did testing and found out she had a blood clotting mutation that was making her body reject pregnancies (I forget what the mutation is)  Her OB had her go on a baby aspirin a day untiil she got pregnant and she's been on a Lovenox injection her entire pregnancy.

I probably would NOT start a baby aspirin regimin without talking to my doctor because my understanding (be it non-medical) is that it thins the lining.  I know my RE is looking for me to have a thick lining so there's "something to hang onto."

After my m/c, however, the RE did a saline infused sonogram to make sure that there was no uterine scarring.  My RE does it as standard protocol after you've seen a heartbeat, because at that point you're far enough along that scarring could happen - and if it's there and not taken care of can cause implantation issues in the future.  I had to wait until after my first post-m/c cycle to do my SIS.

Were you given a time-frame to abstain?

Well, yeah, what you said makes sense.  I really shouldn't start something new before talking with a doctor.

Hmm, I will have to ask about the SIS.  I have often wondered if my c-section is the reason why I am having trouble TTC.

Unfortunately, I don't really have a doctor right now :  Kind of an shitty time to be without a doctor, huh?  The OB I have been seeing forever now is out with a back injury.  Apparently he isn't taking calls during his break either.  I have a follow up with his NP next week, but I am more knowledgable about the TTC process than she is.  Every time I have meet with her, she is clueless.  Hate to be mean, but it's true.

I have been thinking of leaving his practice for some time now.  There has been many things over the years that have rubbed me the wrong way.  And when it took them three days to return my phone call after my miscarriage in FL that was the last straw.  While I know they couldn't do anything for me since I was in FL it was annoying because I just wanted to talk to them, since they knew my history and they were someone familiar to me.

I was totally taken back by the bedside manner of all the physicians I saw in FL.  It's something that my doctor in Texas lacks big time and I finally had enough of it.  Every time I meet with him he has one foot out the door and I my appointments with him are no more than 5 minutes.  Plus he has never really tested me for ANYTHING thus far, so it's time for a new doctor.......

I know you weren't looking for a long, drawn out response on why I hate my doctor but there you have it!  :P

  • Also, how long were you told to wait before TTC?  While I know it would be close to impossible for you to get pregnant on your own was there a time they decided to wait before your next IVF?  Was it three months?

From all the doctors I have talked to in the ER I have gotten a wide variety of answers.  Most of them have been 3 months, but I gotten one 1 month, two 6 months, and one year.  There is no way I am waiting a year!

Obviously I need to find out more answers as to what went wrong before we even think about TTC again.  But I am hopeful that we will be able to jump back on the wagon in March.
