Ok, so about 3 weeks ago, right around the time I got to NC, my bewbs started hurting. With my weight loss, my bras don't fit right now and the underwire dug into and irritated my armpit glands, making them and my bewbs swell. I had to wear sports bras for the entire time we were in NC, and even now since we've been back.
I also went off bc about 6 weeks ago, after being on it for nearly 6 years. I was off for 3 days, then had a period/withdrawal for 9 days (typical before going on bc). Then no weird symptoms or anything until the whole bewb thing 3 weeks ago.
The major concern is that it's not just tenderness, it's outright pain, especially if touched by anything. And then there's the fact my nipples are perpetually erect and purple.
Like I said, this is wayyy TMI, but thank you for hanging in there, if you read it all. I know the terms I used are laughable, but I didn't know how else to describe it.
Any ideas/suggestions? Everything I've read says it could be from going off bc (which should've only lasted a week), pregnancy (which I've already ruled out) or something more serious.

I'm going to agree that the tenderness is mostly likely due to the swelling. I don't know about the nipples per se but could also see that as related. As for the cause of the swelling, I haven't heard of that as a common side effect of going off BC. Can you remember your cycles before BC and if that was a common symptom for you? If it was but you don't remember it being as severe, I know going off BC can make symptoms stronger than you had them before. Otherwise, have you POS lately? I know MIL says she knew immediately when she was pregnant with H because her breasts started swelling and getting tender.
And, it really wouldn't hurt to see a doctor, even if just to put your mind at ease. Better safe than sorry!
My first sign of being pregnant was sore boobs. I never had sore boobs. I didn't make the connection until I got the first positive HPT 2 weeks later.
It honestly doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of, and I've seen a lot.
That being said, go see your OB/Gyn if you have one, if not, go see your PCP. They might do some hormonal tests on you. But please, keep wearing your sports bras (or non-underwire bras) until you know what's going on. It could be blocked glands or something.

Thanks, Picks, for all the info. I'll definitely try the compress idea.
Also, I have an appointment set for tomorrow at 11am. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
so why is pg being ruled out completely? the 3 times you POAS....when in your cycle was that? my first sign was definitely sore boobs.
but i see you made a dr appt anyways, glad you're seeing professionals instead of "experts" on the internet

Well, I ruled it out because the 3 tests were done once a week over the past 3 (since all this started), so I figure if I was, it would've shown up by now. My cycle is all wonky from going off bc, and I haven't been charting, so I don't really know when in the cycle they were. I'm going to have the doc do a test, too, just to be sure.
All you ladies have me freaking out that I might be pg!

Just felt like I should toss in my two cents -
But when I went off BC, my body did all sorts of crazy things it hadn't done before BC, one thing being now my bewbs hurt a TON when I'm PMSing. It might simply be that after 6 years on BC your hormones are just taking awhile to regulate. Good luck tomorrow!
