for the mamas...baby carrier recs?
I am at a loss as to what to get for baby #2, there are so many choices out there! With DS, we had a Moby that I was able to get on maybe twice and then sold it because he was not a fan, and neither was I. We tried the Ergo, and he also was not a fan, sold that too. We kept our Bjorn because it appeared to be the only thing that he enjoyed. My concern is with baby #2, I know I will need something to have a hand or two free while doing things with DS. I have been looking at Mei Tais a little, but there are so many choices, I want to make sure I do my research first. I know back when DS was born there was a bunch of Etsy sellers that were reputable with something similar. Anyone have a fave carrier or a favorite Etsy seller that they would like to recommend?

Re: for the mamas...baby carrier recs?
I guess all babies are different - DS hated the ergo, but I just bought another one (after selling my first one) because it was 1/2 off at Ecopolitan and I figured if DD hates it, I'll sell it at no loss.
I really like the Beco Gemini and Butterfly. I would have bought one of those if I hadn't found the Ecopolitan sale and found the deal too good to resist. You might want to call them and ask what carriers they still have left - last week everything in the store was 50-75% off! GL!
I have:
Moby (don't really like it, too complicated).
k'tan - love this. like a moby but more user friendly
belle - front carrier kind of like a bjorn but with better back support
ergo - like this, but more for the older kiddos

Shawn and Larissa
LO #1 - Took 2 years and 2 IVFs ~ DX - severe MFI mild PCOS homozygous MTHFR (a1298c)
LO #2 - TTC 7 months, surprise spontaneous BFP!
I have:
- a jersey wrap -- too complicated, hard to get kiddo & myself into & out of in public
- Hotsling -- great for when they can support themselves a bit but are less than 20 lbs.
- Beco - my favorite by far. I have the Butterfly II and it was a huge lifesaver. I didn't end up buying a double stroller because I just would put one of the girls in my Beco instead.
I tried on an Ergo at Little Mountain Outfitters in Boulder, but liked the fit and features of the Beco better.

No more baby siggie pics. Boo.

First off, I finally sent you an email for a playdate. Sorry for the delay!
For carriers I used:
1) Moby wrap - Used around the house until J was 4 months old or so. It took a lot of practice to learn how to wrap properly and get it tight enough. Overall, I loved it for the younger baby stage.
2) Ring Sling - Used for out and about until maybe 3 months. I wasn't a huge fan.
3) Beco Butterfly I - I got this pretty cheap and have not found the built in insert to be a nuisance. I love, love, love my Beco. Hands down my favorite carrier! We did a lot of hiking this past summer and it was so comfortable. I still use it for a back carry quite often.

I have an Ergo which I LOVE - we used it until this past summer when she was probably 32-33 lbs.
I also have a Mei Tai which was better for when she was little.
Katie Talks About...
First of all, when are we getting together?? : )
Next, here are the carriers we have/have used:
1. Moby - couldn't have survived Emmaline's first 4 months without it. She wouldn't take naps otherwise.
2. Infantino knock off Bjorn - not great for LO's hips for long stretches. Didn't give me enough back support.
3. Seven Slings - this is the free one that you're always getting e-mail promo codes for. It was great until Emma was about 17ish pounds and then it got too tight. It folds up supersmall so I kept it in my purse for when we were out and about and she wanted to be held but I needed hands free.
4. Rebozo wrap - I bought a genuine Mexican Rebozo off of ebay. Made in Mexico, supporting local women using vegetable-based dye and such. I learned to tie it so it worked like a ring sling sort of. There's a pic of Emma in it on FB. Loved it for a while but the fabric was pretty scratchy. Also, as she got bigger, I needed to invest more time in learning other ways to tie it and I didn't do that so...
5. Boba - my favorite. Similar to the Ergo but made locally and of organic cotton. Also has little footstraps which Emma is starting to use! Does not come with an infant insert so it's only for 15 pounds and up. Although I did hear they were working on an infant insert so they may have that by now. Can be worn on front or back. Ryan loooooooooves to wear Emma in this which just melts my heart and I've been able to use to even while pregnant! Super comfy for both of us.
6. Mei Tai - Love this too. I don't remember the brand I have... Ruby something. When we get together, I'll show it to you. I keep it folded up in the car and use it frequently. Works great front or back and I love that I don't have clips or straps to adjust (like an Ergo or Boba), I just pull it tight and tie!
I'd recommend going to http://www.thebabywearer.com/ for reviews AND to buy carriers used for cheap! I got our Mei Tai on there for under $40, in like new condition, when it retails for $80! If you get them used for less, you don't feel so bad if they don't work out quite right and then you can resell on there, take them to consignment, or give away and not feel bad about money wasted.
Oh, I second the recommendation to call Ecopolitan too! Hurry! Before they close!! ; )
