White paint under chair rail? **Donsgirl**

Donsgirl I am pretty sure that A's nursery was a bright pink with a white chair rail... Did you paint white under it or was it all one color?

I am having a very hard time committing to a shade of purple for k's room. There is one I love. (its the upper right if your friends w. me on facebook) but I'm afraid I won't like it when  it's the entire room. We are already planning on putting up a chair rail.. if I don't like the darkness of the color purple could we just paint white under the chair rail or will that just look strange?

My second choice of color would be the one of the lower left... but I'm afraid that in certain lights it looks too pinky and that when it's the entire room it will be too pink for me... URGH!!!!!!!! I hate hate hate decisions!

  • We have brown under and blue on top. But you could  hangs it up with a darker shade on the bottoM, lighter on top. Or stripes under using the same color in eggshell and gloss, or stripes with white/cream. Or breaking it up with the biggest, most eye catching wall with chalkboard paint.  Good luck!!!

We are kinda thinking about that for DS's room (still seems strange to say that)...Do you have any pics of D's room?

  • There is nursery album on my Facebook. Let me know if you like the colors and want the names.
  • We have a darker grey over a lighter grey with white chair rail in our bedroom.  Then we have a lighter green over darker green with chair rail in living room.

YOu can do Purple/chair rail/ white  OR use waistcoating (wood strip paneling) on the bottom in white with chair rail.  OR do white bottom with rectangle framing (looks like picture frames).  DH installs them in tons of houses.  You can then paint those frames purple, do chalk board paint or make purple chalk board paint.

  • Our dining room at our old house had a deep color above the chairrail, with the rail and bottom of the wall painted white.  I think it works best if the color above is midtone or darker so that the contrast is really obvious.   If  you do a really light color above and white below, it might just look like you forgot to paint the bottom!

  • Here's a pic of As nursery when it was finished before she came home. We did Tink Pink paint on bottom then the chair rail & left the top the color it was which was sort of an offwhite/eggshell i guess. I'd like to do the same in the new house for her room as well...
