Shoes

Do you take your shoes off at work?

Re: Shoes

  • sometimes I will take them off at my desk, but I don't walk around with them off. And I will typically slip them back on quickly if someone comes in to talk to me. I don't take off shoes that I have to reach down and use my hands to get them off - anything that ties, boots that zip, etc.

I used to  be in a cubicle next to a guy who would take his shoes off and walk around in socks all day. Our secretary made a policy that she would not help him and he couldn't enter her cube unless he was wearing shoes.

  • I had no idea that anyone did this, and I am thoroughly grossed out.

    So, that's a no. haha

  • At my desk all the time. But I slip them back on if anyone comes in my office. I would never just walk around without shoes on - WTF?
  • I've only taken them off at my desk a handful of times if my feet are hurting really bad. I will not walk around without shoes on, gross.
  • If I was wearing shoes that slipped on, yep. But I put them back on if someone walked up to my desk or if I left my desk.

    This is me exactly.

  • I've done this in the past, but only at my desk and never walked around without them on. In grad school we all kept flip flops and/or slippers in our office for when we taught. We'd take off our heels and walk around in slippers.

  • If you keep your shoes on at all times, how do you sit at your desk? Up straight with your feet flat on the floor all the time?

    Yes

  • My shoes are off right now. I pretty much always have on flats or heels and if I'm sitting at my desk they're off me feet. I have an old recycling can under my desk that I use as a foot rest.

I have walked a few steps from my desk barefoot but I wouldn't go too far. It doesn't gross me out at all.

  • I have an obsession with shoes, but I hate wearing them.  I take my shoes off every chance I get.  haha  I don't walk around the office without shoes though.  I pretty much only do that at home.

*roll eyes* cross my legs at the knee, at the ankles, feet flat on the floor, feet up on a stoll under my desk, soooo many options really. ;)

  • I do when I am sitting at my desk but I put them back on if someone comes by to talke or I need to get up and walk around the office.

  • So I taught a class today, which prompted me asking this question. Two of my students TOOK their shoes off in the classroom type setting. WTF? One student slide of her tennis shoes and Hung out in socks until lunch break. The second student took off her clog type shoes before class started. About an hour into class, she took off her effin socks. Umm, hello? You are not at home. I am disgusted. Shoes off, I can handle. Socks off, vomit.

Yeah, sitting indian style at work with shoes off def does weird me out! No problem with it whatsoever at home, but it just seems really bizarre. Like I wouldn't pick my teeth with a toothpick at my desk either. lol

  • I might slip my feet out of my shoes to give them a quick breather if I have on backless shoes.  I would never get up and walk around without them on though.  My feet don't smell like roses so I certainly wouldn't want to subject anyone to that!

I really wanted to take off my shoes at childbirth class last night, but again, I didn't want to offend anyone.

    *Hi fives LB*

Yep. I totally slip off my shoes under my desk. I sit indian style in my chair. Granted, if I see someone coming, I'll sit up properly.

Yeah exactly. It's under my desk and no one just walking by can see. It's not like I'm sitting all folded up spinning in circles in my desk chair down the hallway.

ETA: And just to reiterate, this is never anywhere outside of my little office. I don't even walk around in here without shoes. Not even a step. I just take them off when I'm sitting most of the time if I'm by myself.

  • Taking yours shoes off in your office or your cube, doesn't bother me. Taking them off in a classroom setting, when others can see your feet does bother me.
