My Cinderella moment

I vacuumed yesterday. Then I mopped. I turned on the ceiling fan to let the floors dry. After they dried, my husband let our dog in.

Mud. The kind that's dirt and water mixed together, not made up drama (though this is drama of the silly kind).

My floors were beautiful. Well, as beautiful as they can get when they're the horrid wood linoleum. But they were clean! And two seconds later they were covered in pawprints and little bits of mud all over the place!

I didn't know whether to laugh or be mad! I think I was sort of both. I just couldn't believe it. It reminded me of that scene in Cinderella when Lucifer the cat runs all over the place with dirty paws from the dustpan where she had just cleaned the floor (at least I didn't do it on my hands and knees!).

It was terrible. My husband felt so bad! Luckily we discovered our new dog really likes baths because DH took him in the bathroom to clean his paws off. He plopped right down in the water! (english springer spaniel)

So I did a really half-a$sed job with a broom and the mop again (at least I hadn't put it away yet!). My floors aren't as pretty as before...but I really did feel like some sort of princess yesterday!

Just thought I'd share because it was kinda funny!

Re: My Cinderella moment

  • Replace "dog" with "husband and two young children" and I could tell this story.  I hate to say this, but this is why I tend to avoid cleaning my floors.  It pains me to see them get so dirty so quickly!

This is me except 3 small children.

I clean my floors every Tuesday and Friday afternoon because they need it that often (they really need it 3 or 4 times per week).  I hate that it's a 2 hour process to clean them, but I don't feel that the house is clean unless the floors are clean and I almost have an anxiety type feeling when the house is a disaster.

  • Well, at least you felt like a Princess!
