Background: last week Sherlock was constantly straining to pee, getting little bits out at a time with blood in it. He was diagnosed with crystals and has been on medication. His urination habits are back to normal. He goes several times a day, and each time he gets a lot out.
Our little buddy finished his antibiotics yesterday and the muscle relaxers earlier in the week. He's now on something for parasites which will be a 10 day course of meds and then *hopefully* we'll be in the clear.
The muscle relaxers made him drowsy and he slept a lot. He seemed somewhat normal once we were done with those. Last night he was just acting downright weird. After eating his food (laced with meds) he wouldn't let us hold him (he almost always lets us hold him without a fight and will often nap sitting with us on the couch) and he spent most of the evening in the basement. One of the times we went down there he was sitting in his cat carrier. It was pretty sad. He wouldn't let us pet him, and if we tried to pick him up he'd bite.
This morning he was back to being a sweet little love bug, giving lots of head butts, kisses, and he sat on my lap letting me pet him for about 10 minutes before I had to get up and get ready for work. I mixed his meds into his food and fed him as soon as I woke up. By the time I was ready to leave for work he was back to being weird. He sat in the window in the kitchen and kind of ducked away from me when I tried to pet him. DH said he was acting like he did last night when he woke up.
He doesn't seem to be in any pain, his poo and pee are both normal. Is it possible that this is just a side effect of the medicine? Last week when his issues popped up they were proceeded by weird behavior, so I'm now extra sensitive to those changes.
