AW: DD1's ACT score!

A got a 25 on her ACT.  The average is 21.1.  Her reading came in at 32 and the average is 21.4.  I hope this motivates her to do even better in the last three semesters of hs.  She is pretty stoked.  I know she's no genius but she is smarter than she gives herself credit for and I think this will help her understand she needs to actually use her brain. Smile

  • HURRAY!!!!

Does she seem super proud?  Hope she's seeing that she's got good options for after high school and really getting motivated to pound out the rest of high school!

We're gearing up for the SAT's at the end of the month.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • That's wonderful!!!! yay!

  • uh okay... I just read online that most colleges want a composite score of 29.  Indifferent So since her reading/english are above average and her math/science are just right at average we may need do to some tutoring in those latter areas.

Really?  Is she going for state schools?  I don't think I had great scores and I had a guaranteed in at CSU.  I think I had to get a 21.

  • Wow a 32 on English is great..  Is she taking the SAT also?  Don't quote me, but from what I remember, if you are better at English than you usually score higher on the SAT and if you are math/science person the ACT is more for you.

Either way, I think most schools understand that students have some strong points and some areas to improve.  I think with good grades and no D/Fs on her report cards in HS she would have no problem with getting into college.

thank you, it seems those higher scores are for ivy league which a) we won't afford b) she has no interest in (luckily) :::whew:::

  • If she studies and takes it again, some schools will actually take the composite of her highest scores.

At New Mexico State, this is what the Honors College did. I had a 25 and a 26. My English was a 32 on my first go around but dropped to a 29 or 30 on the second try. I did so much better on science and math the second time. The Honors College combined them and I ended up with a 27, I think.

Her GPA is pretty good too, right? I thinks she told me it was over a 3.0? She'll be a great candidate for most state schools if she keeps it up.

  • That is great news D!  A 32 in reading is awesome too :)

  • Woo!  That is excellent!  I hope she feels super proud of her accomplishment and hard work.
  • I don't know if this has changed since I went to CU but I got a 26 my first attempt and it was good enough for CU and CSU. I was accepted to both.
