i spoke too soon! i have to get another pap in six months. my doctor called and said i had a very minor abnormal (nothing like 10 years ago when i had a leep). he said there is no presence of active HPV, either. so he just wants to retest in 6 mos. have you had that where they don't do anything?
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.
Re: kare
Oh no! That freaking sucks!! I've had abnormals off and on for maybe 9 years so I've had lots of different steps taken.
There were some times that it was so minor they just repeated the pap. Sometimes I had abnormal after that, sometimes normal.
Then I've had it be minor and just repeated the pap and then went back and it was higher...had biospy on a few different occasions - only one lead to the LEEP thankfully.
There was a long period of normals (maybe a year) and when I got the first abnormal I freaked a little since I was married and I was like, "Okay, H, WTF!!", but apparently it can lay dormant and resurface at any time. I guess that's probably what's going on with you, but paps can also be minor for no reason at all (just the lab work was messed up for one reason or another). Here's hoping that's all it was!!
cool, thanks! i just wanted to make sure it was somewhat normal to take a watch and see approach. i am sure i have had HPV at some point which lead to the cervical dysplasia and LEEP in the past. he said because of this abnormal they automatically do a test for the presence of HPV and that right now there is none (it's lying dormant). he said that is good and means there's no reason to act more aggressively. i just don't want to have another LEEP because of course as you know each one weakens the cervical wall. but i'll worry about that in six months when we do my repeat pap.
thanks again!
No problem! Try not to stress about it for the next 6 months either. If he gave you that long it's probably so minor it barely showed up. They just have to repeat per procedure, but I'm sure you'll get a normal next time. Especially with so long inbetween abnormals - that means your body is good at controlling it.
I wish mine was! Stupid vagina.
